Today we’d like to introduce you to Mia Carrion.
Hi Mia, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I’m the baby sister in my family. My oldest sister was good at make-up, my middle sister was good at hair, and I?
I sucked at both, so when teen acne hit I had to make sure my skin was on point because most likely I was rocking a bun. Over time, this grew to me randomly buying skincare products and luckily getting it right every time.
Though I loved skincare, I never even thought about doing this as a career. I thought facials were only given in boring spas!
One day, mid-pandemic a friend and I were talking and she said I could really see you being an esthetician and it clicked for me. The next month, I signed up for beauty school and 6 months later after graduating, I found myself getting ready to open my esthetics business 100% solo straight out of school
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has been an interesting journey.
I went from the legal field into the esthetics world so there were some adjustments I needed to make. The most difficult one at first was definitely the transition from regular paychecks every two weeks to the unpredictability of entrepreneurship.
I also had a crazy idea (thanks to social media) that I would be booked out immediately after opening. That was a huge wake-up call you realize it takes a lot to gain steady clients, especially when they know you.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a licensed esthetician and certified lash technician in the south Florida area. I specialize in acne and hyperpigmentation treatments for the skin and lashes for the everyday woman!
At my business Laluz Beauty, I wanted to create a space that offered the best of both worlds, professional upscale service with a relaxing vibe. I love to tell clients my spa is where results meet relaxation.
I pride myself on providing exceptional customer service whether that be silent appointments for moms who have busy lives at home or being my client’s unlicensed therapist for our hour together.
As a mom and wife myself, there is so much beauty in being able to vent about your at-home woes and someone understands.
We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
Success to me is being able to walk in a room and your accomplishments speak for themselves.
It is also being able to live your life on your own terms, especially in the world of social media we are always being told how to live and what’s what so being able to march to the beat of your own drum authentically is successful to me.
