Today we’d like to introduce you to Kyle Kinmon.
Kyle, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
After advanced foot and ankle surgical training in Miami, I moved to Palm Beach County and joined a practice. I soon realized that the area was lacking a group that provides advanced comprehensive conservative and surgical treatment of the foot ankle and lower leg. There were plenty of podiatrists doing routine foot-care and General Podiatry and a few docs who were surgically trained in separate practices. The surgeons would not do General foot care and the general podiatrists were unable to do surgery. As surgical podiatrists, my mentors in training were adamant that we should be able to diagnose and treat every condition below the knee. This was a void to be filled in Palm Beach, Broward and Martin County’s – and we have done so.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Life is not always smooth but every hurdle represents an opportunity to learn. Healthcare is a difficult business. It is always changing and more regulations are being layered on. Nonetheless, as we grow we are able to support more infrastructure to address these obstacles in ways that small physician groups cannot afford.
Certified Foot & Ankle specialists – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Certified Foot & Ankle Specialists provides advanced comprehensive conservative and surgical treatment of the foot, ankle and lower leg in a caring and engaging environment. I am most proud of the fact that patients tell us daily about their unparalleled experience at our office. They enjoy coming to see us and we enjoy having them. What sets us apart is our relentless pursuit of knowledge, holding ourselves to the highest standards and board certification and Advanced Training on emerging techniques and Technologies. We go above and beyond what is typical in order to ensure that our patients are receiving the best possible care.
For example, I was the first to be board certified in reconstructive rear foot and ankle surgery in Palm Beach County. We are the only group to provide free transportation services to our patients so that they do not have to forgo treatment due to driving limitations. We are also the only group to have invested in the pedCAT, the latest diagnostic technology in Foot and Ankle surgery which is a weight-bearing CT scanner producing 3D images and less than one minute. We also have in-house MRI, pathology, neurology, diagnostic radiology for vein services, pedorthist for custom bracing and footwear and much more. We are the largest group and the only group covering Palm Beach, Martin and Broward counties. I am proud of this growth because it is a testament to the good care that we provide.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
While I am proud of many of my accomplishments, such as being the first provisional total ankle replacement with 3D printed custom implant technology, starting a Residency Program at Bethesda Health and having a surgical device that I developed and patented that hit the market for use across the world. I am most proud when I see the young physicians who I trained go on to accomplish great things. Recently, one of our graduates was the first female surgeon to be granted ankle replacement privileges in Palm Beach County. That made me proud.
