Meet Jaime Legagneur of Florida Podcast Network

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jaime Legagneur.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Jaime (“Jemmy”). So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I am an award-winning south Florida podcaster and Founder of the Florida Podcast Network.

Like most Floridians, I wasn’t BORN in the Sunshine State; but, I proudly claim it, having lived here since 1982. After first living in Miami for a couple of years, my family moved north to Boca Raton, where I grew up, witnessing the town develop around us.

After earning two business degrees and working for others, I founded Flint Stone Media–initially as a digital marketing firm–in 2014.

Helping people have success in their true passion became my life’s mission, and I launched my Curve the Cube podcast to inspire others. I later followed in 2016 with Eggheads After Hours.

Along the journey of producing these first shows, I discovered podcasting’s power to inspire, motivate, grow a brand, and make yourself an influencer. As such, early in 2017, I took aim at the goal of making podcasting services my company’s full focus. Flint Stone Media now proudly carries a growing portfolio of podcast clients.

Also this year, I founded the Florida Podcast Network with the goal of helping brands get into the powerful podcasting space, so they can propel Florida’s economy forward. I envision various publications, tourism boards, businesses, and personalities, delivering the richness of Florida’s character through an audio experience to millions of listeners. And, my first new show on the network, Finding Florida, is currently launching.

And, I’m no stranger to such a challenge and have absolutely fallen in love with the podcasting industry. I am also the organizer of the Palm Beach Podcasters MeetUp Group, winner of the 2017 “In Yo Face” podcasting award, and was proud to be a featured IGNITE speaker at Podcast Movement in Anaheim, California this year.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I have been very fortunate to have had some amazing people come into my life at what has always seemed like just the right time to move things forward. However, pursuing your dream and building something from scratch takes a LOT of hard work, late nights, and sacrifices.

I am a single mother. And, the biggest roller coaster for me has been the balancing act of pursuing my dream and keeping food on the table. But, I have learned a lot about persistence and creativity–and a lot about my own perseverance.

Anything worth having is worth working really hard for, and I’m proud to show my son that example.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Florida Podcast Network story. Tell us more about the business.
The Florida Podcast Network will soon be known as “The Voice of Florida” through an offering of shows celebrating the Sunshine State.

The vision is for local brands to attract business and tourism opportunities to Florida by showcasing all our uniqueness–from the salt life to the swamp life and from its swing state status to its “Flori-duh” reputation.

From the listener’s point of view, they can pick their favorites from a smorgasbord of content. Not only will they become more familiar with all the hidden history and treasures in their own backyards, but, they will have fresh, new ideas for how to entertain themselves and their visiting guests.

The brands and personalities behind the shows will have a fun, new means of producing creative content and a way to grow their customer base by growing their fan base; and show sponsors can target very specific Florida-based niches. The Network’s model is simply a win-win for everybody!!

And, as a means of supporting the independent podcasting talent grown here in Florida, FPN also features a Directory where any Florida podcaster can submit their show and have a presence on the site. As a fun feature of the Directory to help increase discoverability, there is a pin map for people to explore.

The newest in-Network show, the Finding Florida Podcast, is just launching now and is a great example of what sets the Network and its parent company, Flint Stone Media, apart–the enthusiasm and expertise of all involved. Finding Florida is pure fun entertainment shining a bright spotlight on the hidden adventures Florida has to offer.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I’m a firm believer in that old adage–luck is where preparation meets opportunity. By my second year of hosting and producing the Curve the Cube Podcast, I had fully realized my passion for the space and wanted to grow podcasting into my full-time focus. But, not quite sure what I wanted that to mean, I was equally unsure of how to do it.

So, I kept working really hard and decided to start meeting other podcasters and just see what happens–and this was where the first bit of luck came in. I made it to Podfest in February 2017 on someone else’s dime–their “Pay it Forward” program. To this day, I still have no idea who gifted me the ticket. But, being at Podfest allowed me to expand my horizons and meet so many people. The most notable of whom was Glenn the Geek from the Horse Radio Network. He saw something in me and offered to be my mentor. It was a moment that I’ll never forget, and it was all captured in episode #110 of Curve the Cube!

Since meeting Glenn the Geek, my podcasting life has exploded in every possible way. He helped me improve my shows, gain more connections in the industry, AND conceive of the Florida Podcast Network. EVERYTHING has changed since the day I met my mentor–simply EVERYTHING.
