Today we’d like to introduce you to Florencia Serra.
Hi Florencia, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My love for photography started when I was in high school, and I was gifted my first digital camera. I’ve always been the photographer of my group of friends, and as I pursued a journalism career in college, my passion for documenting moments never stopped. During the summer of 2020, I found myself needing a creative outlet more than ever, so after some conversations with my closest friends, I decided to launch my photography business. I genuinely love photographing people. For me, it’s all about capturing their inherent beauty and documenting the authentic moments happening in their lives. I currently focus on lifestyle photography, including couples, families, weddings, events, and branding.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I would say the biggest challenge is gaining experience and exposure. There is a lot of competition, but at the same time, along the way, I’ve learned that if I stay true to who I am, my values, and my style, clients will choose me for that. Also, the power of social media (especially Instagram) keeps showing me time and time again the amazing community that exists here in south Florida. Since I began, I’ve partnered up with wonderful women-owned businesses, and the connections have been so rewarding in so many ways.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I capture real, authentic, unscripted true love for couples all around the south Florida area. I love what I do because I get to capture moments that my clients don’t want to miss, those in-between moments that make them who they are, the unique soft side that everyone has. No forced poses, no uncomfortable photos- just them, their significant other or families and their life’s most special milestones. I am very proud of what I’ve accomplished thus far, my resilience, and the partnerships I’ve fostered with many other women-led businesses in south Florida and photographing my first wedding in Palm Beach in February. I believe what sets me apart is my drive, my attention to detail, but most importantly, my commitment to providing the best experience for my clients.
We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
I am originally from Uruguay (South America), so my parents would take my siblings and me to Punta del Este every summer when I was growing up. We would go to the beach every day, play on the waves, go home and have a yummy lunch. Then we would spend the rest of the afternoons playing at the pool with our neighborhood friends. Those are memories that I will never lose.
