Meet Carissa Glanton of Diamond Eyez Photography in Jacksonville

Today we’d like to introduce you to Carissa Glanton.

Carissa, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I am a small-town girl that moved from North Carolina to Jacksonville back in 2006. I did not start off pursuing photography but oddly enough I always kept a little disposable camera around when I was younger in High School. My love of portrait work wasn’t officially untapped until I attended various film and digital photography classes during my studies of Graphic Design at Florida State College of Jacksonville. I began shooting using a pink Sony point-and-shoot camera and transitioned up to a professional camera and studio space. My studio is now centered around what I call “Glamour Birthday Photo Shoots” which is designed to provide a unique experience to make you feel like you’re the “Queen of The Day!”

Has it been a smooth road?
Growing my business to where it is now has been a challenging road. I mainly had issues with finding a studio home. I’ve had three studio locations prior to the one I am in now. I’ve also struggled with self-motivation, there were plenty of times I’ve wanted to quit but have gone too far to turn back. Overcoming those challenges made me stronger and more determined to carry on my dream career.

We’d love to hear more about your work.
Diamond Eyez Photography specializes in Glamour Birthday Photo Shoots, As strange as it may sound, I have legit created a studio that is equipped with crowns, thrones, scenes, and decorations that would build the ideal look for a birthday photoshoot. I’m known for the extravagant scenes, fun props, and creative shoot themes. I am different from other photographers because I am Women-Led and create the set as well as shoot it.

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
With my business being based in Jacksonville, Florida I feel that I could benefit more being in a city that is centered around entertainment. What I offer is a unique experience so I plan to relocate in the future. It wouldn’t be bad to start in Jacksonville because you will learn a lot of dos and don’ts in your first years of business but I would recommend a more entertainment or vacation based city to get the best opportunities.
