Meet Katrina and Bud Fleisher of Let’s Party DJs & Entertainment in Boca Raton

Today we’d like to introduce you to Katrina and Bud Fleisher.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Bud: “I started playing parties in college. I loved music and had a knack for it. Before I knew it, I was running my own business, Let’s Party! DJs & Entertainment, in New York’s Five Boroughs. Like so many that crave sunshine, I relocated to South Florida in the late 90s when I was on a beach in January. People thought I was nuts, but I knew I could make it here. I opened the yellow pages (there was no Google then) and I made connections. As a DJ/MC, with records of over 4,000 events I may have played to hundreds of thousands of people from all parts of the world & in all walks of life. South Florida is a melting pot, and it’s always fascinating to see who shows up on my dance floor, including a few of famous faces. As a business owner, I’ve been able to provide opportunities and gigs to many fellow DJs and Entertainers as well. I’m also thrilled to have my wife, Katrina, as my brilliant business partner working by my side and handling our website and media presence.”

Katrina: “I moved from the Austin, TX suburbs to Boca Raton, FL in 2012. I moved for love and found a love for Entertainment and Media in the process. Bud and I knew within 48 hours of our first date that we were soulmates, and I began working with him shortly after. I handle most of the administrative elements of the business, as well as marking, website maintenance, and social media.”

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Bud: “Like anyone, there have been rough times, such as having my best account change hands around the time a close friend and business associate stole my 2nd best account, and I lost both in the process. The personal part of having a friend undermine me still is harder than the financial losses.

However, I’m grateful to have survived, and ultimately, thrived. This business has kept me self-employed my entire adult life!”

Let’s Party DJs & Entertainment – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Bud: “Let’s Party! provides DJs, MCs, Lighting Services, Dancers, Photography, Videography, and Photo booths for private events all over South Florida. I’m a business owner, but I’m also a DJ. Using music, rhythm, and my voice, I can direct people to a better place and make every day people feel extraordinary. It’s an honor to be there for the good times – to provide joy for a living.”

Katrina: “As a company, we do our best to ensure every client feels valued and at ease, carrying all licenses and insurances and serving on the boards of Networking and Wedding/Event organizations. What sets us apart is simple: we listen to our clients.

What makes US unique is YOU. We are here to help you create your day, not perform our show. A great DJ is a chameleon, able to adapt to almost any event.”

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
Bud: “While I’ve had a lot of great moments, including picking the song for that became former President Bill Clinton’s campaign theme (“Don’t Stop Thinking about Tomorrow) as well as being DJ for an event that our current President once hosted, by far for me the moment that stands out is when I played a wedding for a couple who’d met on the internet in the days prior to easy photo sharing & background checks. In the days of the “AOL Chat Box” a severely disabled young man met a woman from Texas who literally fell in love with him for his soul and vice versa. This young man could not walk and by the time the wedding came around he was able, with severe difficulty, to rise from his wheelchair & dance a first dance. It was “For Once In My Life” by Tony Bennett. I cried my eyes out as did most in attendance. I was proud they chose me as their DJ, I was proud they felt comfortable with me. I will never forget that as long as I live.”
