Today we’d like to introduce you to Beth Nathanson.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
An entrepreneurial spirit grew in me as a result of living and working at our small, family-owned resort throughout my teen years. A move to Florida as a young adult provided an opportunity to utilize my customer service skills in apartment management & leasing here in Coral Springs, and when I became a single mom in 1994, the need for a flexible schedule & higher income propelled me to become a real estate salesperson. I assisted the family with the acquisition and management of Florida Property Management & Sales in 1999 and now, as the owner, am happy to be serving buyers, renters, property owners & sellers with all their housing needs. Real estate & Property Management has been, and will always be, something I am passionate about. We’re opening doors for people like you!
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
As with many small businesses, part of the challenge is to grow the company without losing the hands-on, personal touch customers expect. It’s an exciting time, with lots of opportunities for streamlining systems and boosting efficiency; however, we recognize each customer is an individual so we’ve been careful to integrate technology while still remaining nimble and available to our customers. Maintaining that balance between being flexible & effective is a constant challenge and something for which I have my devoted staff and salespeople to thank.
Please tell us about Florida Property Management & Sales.
Florida Property Management & Sales provides full-service property management for owners of quality properties in South Florida, along with Real Estate Sales & Purchases and Residential Rentals. We’re a family-owned company, representing three generations of real estate professionals specializing in the local market for over 35 years.
It’s a great feeling to be working with customers with whom we’ve been providing our services for decades, and we’re most proud of the referrals to their family members & friends. It makes us happy to know that our service to our clients is something they want to share with the people they care about.
For most people, real estate is not a business investment, it’s their home. Or their mom’s home. Or the place where as a young adult they begin their independence. Life’s twists and turns have people upsizing, downsizing, renting, buying, selling, and often without much notice. We are in a unique position to be there for them every step of the way, like when a renter of ours who was finally able to purchase the property for herself, is now hiring us to manage a rental property for her. It’s rewarding to help people with their real estate needs, wherever their life takes them.
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
There is an opportunity to learn something new in this field every day, like how to capture an escaped hamster in an apartment; however, there are also events much more serious in nature. Remaining calm in the face of disaster is something we recently experienced as Hurricane Irma became a real threat to everyone in the state of Florida. We sought to inform our renters and property owners from the beginning, giving them daily updates, information and directing them to resources for both before and after the hurricane. Thankfully, our area sustained only minor damage for the most part. We learned that it’s important to have renters better informed as to hurricane prep and evacuation procedures, and to be sure that all emergency contact information is current and up to date. We continue to put the safety of our customers and the preservation of their property first. We have begun to implement improved systems to be even better prepared should another storm threaten our area. If I had to do it all again, I would still choose South Florida as my home. To me, there is no better place in which to live or work, and Florida Property Management & Sales will be here when you need us.
