Today we’d like to introduce you to Alvaro Psevoznik.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Alvaro. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I was born in Salta, a small city in northwestern Argentina in 1971. During my teen years, and since my dad was a local radio talent, I started loving radio broadcasting and, at 17 I was running my own show but in order to keep it running, I had to get sponsors and this is when I realized that marketing and advertising were “my thing”.
During the 90’s I was doing my show, going to college to get my communications and marketing degrees, publishing a magazine and opening my own agency. Argentina’s economy is a pandora box, and in 2002 when everything collapsed and I was broke, I moved to Miami with my wife and 2 small kids and started my agency here.
Today, looking 15 years back in time, I am a proud American citizen, my older son is in college studying guess what? Yes: Communications and Marketing in the University of Florida, with his radio show at UF’s radio station and assisting the director in the local PBS station newscast, I’m an established and reputable digital marketing consultant to my agency’s clients and other agency owners in Latin America, and speaker in several social media and digital marketing events and summits. Do I love what I do? Oh yeah!
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
This industry is never an easy one. As technology moves faster and faster, and online advertising offers new channels, ideas and tricks all the time, being up to date in this business is not an easy thing. Loving what I do, and being surrounded by a good and professional team helped me a lot, but it’s definitely not an easy business to run.
Also, most clients are not familiar with digital marketing and it’s not easy for them to trust in new technologies or channels, and most of the times they want to do the “usual” stuff: Adwords, Facebook ads and YouTube, and these days, a smart strategy goes way beyond that.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about DM Agency – Digital Marketing – what should we know?
I started the agency in the early 90’s. During the first few years, we were just a graphic design studio, until in 1997 we developed our first couple of websites and stepped into the digital world. In 2002, with almost 300 websites developed, we opened our Miami office and introduced ourselves as the first “Full-service Digital Agency in Miami” combining our design, branding and digital experience, something not easy to find in one firm back in that year. In 2003 we started our email marketing services with a proprietary software we’ve developed in-house and started exploring the digital advertising niche with Google Adwords, and discovering what “SEO” was.
When in 2009 a customer who was being slammed by his clients on Facebook asked me to “fix this”, I realized that Social Media wasn’t just a “phenomenon” and it was here to stay for a very long time, and opened our Social Media department with one community manager and zero knowledge. A couple of months later, we were managing several clients’ social media profiles with 5 community managers, including our own chat support center.
As social media evolved, email marketing remained as one of the main tools to engage with customers and prospects, and Adwords is the king of online advertising, we have specialized in Digital Marketing in order to provide our clients with the latest trends in the industry, being the first ones to try new products, platforms and channels to market them. We currently have more than 20 team members, all part of our company (no freelancers) in our two Miami offices, and our Argentina and Colombian branches. What makes us different? Simple; Being the first ones to show our clients what’s coming, and being on top of everything all the time.

During all these years, we had a lot of team members. They all helped the agency to be where it is now. We are proud to say that 60% of our clients have been with us for more than 10 years and their trust have helped us to be the first ones to test new things, channels and strategies. All our newest clients joined us because of this and because we keep things simple and transparent, especially when it comes to money. We love to show and report on every single penny we invest on their behalf, and with not everybody doing this, we believe this is a plus and a reason to keep doing business with us.
