Life & Work with Katie Elizabeth Cunningham

Today we’d like to introduce you to Katie Elizabeth Cunningham. She shares her story with us below:

Katie grew up in the small village of Verwood, Dorset England. Cunningham, and her family moved to Edmonton, Alberta, Canada in 1999. This is where she walked into her first Art class. Just at the age of 11, she knew that she would always be in love with Painting.

Fast forward to 2021. Although she has been selling fine art globally for the past 18 years, Katie decided that she is a big fish in a small Canadian pond. She wanted to See and Experience More and take her Art to the Next Level.

With 3 weeks’ notice, she made the decision to take her Talents to South Beach. With only two suitcases and her kitty, Simba, she was on her way to the Airport in Kelowna, BC, Canada. The flight to America was 18 hours. After layovers in Vancouver and Denver, Katie finally arrived at FLL Hollywood International Airport.

Now it was time to acquire a living space & Art Studio. With no real knowledge of the area, she found a beautiful home in Aventura, Miami. This is where the seed of Her version of the American dream was planted. 3 months into the Journey in America, Katie sold her first Five Figure deal on U.S Soil.

This, to Cunningham, was ‘Amazing’ as she would say. This was something that people used to tell her was an impossible thing to even fathom. She remembers how many people would call her crazy and say she could never do it. She’s proven to be a hard worker and up to ANY challenge that has been put before her.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I have been on a mission to do what many claims is “impossible.” This is to be an International Renowned successful LIVING artist. I can’t believe how many people have told me that my art will only be worth something when I’m dead.

The strangest part about telling people your goals and dreams, and the fact that you are trying to pressure them… There are a lot of people that will doubt you to your face. “I’ve now learned to make moves in silence.”

I’ve not had much encouragement from others with my career path, I’ve had to be my own cheerleader most of the time because I have such high goals that I want to accomplish. I’m on a mission to make KEC Fine Art a Household-Name. My goal is to be the ‘Beyonce’ of Fine Art.

I’m a huge advocate for Mental health as it has also played a major part in my journey, especially PTSD, anxiety & vertigo. Being in different countries from my family has been tough. Especially with not being able to travel to see them during the pandemic.

It seems though when you work so hard, and you don’t slow down, your body or God forces you to. I have been in multiple horrific car accidents which set on vertigo, and PSDT & anxiety. By the way, none of these accidents were at any fault of my own.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m most proud of having the courage to leave a successful career in real estate to follow my dreams of being an International Renowned Fine Artist.

I’ve believed in myself when no one else would. I am proud to say I am now ”Living the American Dream”. All of the hard work, dedication, consistency, and ambition since I opened my business 18 years ago, have really paid off.

I am completely custom. Each client gets a free consultation (online or in-house) where we discuss the vision of your artwork. Together we learn what mood and feel you want to portray in your room. We also discuss sizing and work with the color pallet of your home so that I can create the PERFECT one-of-a-kind Custom NFT KEC FINE ART for your home.

The physical and digital NFT is included with each purchase. My motto is “I’ll paint Anything, Any Size, and Any Color. Literally, ANYTHING.

I Specialize in Custom NFT Fine Art. Memorial Portraits are my most popular product, However, I paint EVERYTHING! Portraits, Pet Portraits, Company Branding Art Work, Landscape, Wall Murals to Sea Vessels.

Another part of what KEC FINE ART offers is Live Elegant Entertainment where I put on a performance, painting for my client’s live at their wedding, anniversary, gala, or any other celebratory events.

I believe in my heart that it’s my purpose to memorialize people’s loved ones, family members and pets. I believe God gave me this talent to create beautiful angels for our walls. Not only that, with my social platforms, my mission is to inspire others to go after their goals and dreams and encourage people to believe in themselves.

Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
Staying positive, having faith, and being disciplined. Self-development is also key.

Keeping my vision so strong in my mind. Eye blinders are on! Work until the work is done; not until you’re tired, or have lost interest. Believing in myself and just KNOWING in my heart and soul what my passion is.

My advice is. If you make steps towards your goal every day, and never give up. You will become successful. You will never fail if you never quit. Success is inevitable. But you must have a good work ethic and remember that consistency is key.

You must also surround yourself with the right people. Move with intention and listen to your intuition. Most important though is to definitely, keep the faith, remember you grow through what you go through, and stay true to your heart.
