Today we’d like to introduce you to Daja Ferguson and Daija Rivera.

Hi Daja and Daija, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself
After attaining our Bachelor’s degree, we were inspired to pursue a much greater purpose. Entrepreneurship was something we both valued and was a journey we started shortly after graduating. After doing a substantial amount of research, we became more and more interested in the fashion industry. Loungewear was the perfect niche for us; we both are very chill people and love to be comfortable and cute. However, we wanted to do more than sell loungewear. Building a story behind our brand was very important to us. Bloom Loungewear is all about uplifting! We take pride in owning a Black brand and wanted to make sure we incorporate that in our brand. Each piece is designed to comfortably snug the body and the colors ranging from an almond to a dark cocoa brown, embody the beauty of our Black and Brown skin. Our goal is for every woman that owns a piece of Bloom, to feel beautiful and comfortable in their skin.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Building a brand is not easy and we faced many challenges. One obstacle we had was finding the perfect manufacturer. We spent a lot of time searching and reaching out to many different manufacturers. That process alone took us maybe two to three months, but we were determined to have the designs we sketched made instead of going the wholesale route. Even after finding a manufacturer, we had to do a lot of sampling and corrections to our designs. This was probably one of the biggest challenges, but it was worth it.
