Today we’d like to introduce you to Victoria and Dmitriy Kim.
Victoria and Dmitriy, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
The idea for Flippo’s came from one mom’s quest to find a safe, indoor play facility in South Florida to take her two children. Victoria Kim and her two active boys had exhausted the public playground scene and were always looking for new, fun ways to engage with other parents and kids. One too many rainy days and under-maintained parks later, the concept of Flippo’s was born. Victoria and her husband – with lots of input from their kids – brainstormed and researched all the options for indoor playgrounds and games.
What they came up with was an exciting collection of the most modern, engaging and unique activities available anywhere, now fondly known as Flippo’s. Victoria’s youngest son, 2 years old, inspired the Toddler Area and engaging Mommy and Me classes, while the elder son, at 5 years old, loves the agility-testing Laser Maze and firing the cannons in the Ball Blaster. You’re invited to join the Flippo’s family and let your kids choose their own favorites. There is truly something for everyone!
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Of course not) As both me my husband had no experience in the kid’s entertainment industry we had challenges at every possible step of the process, starting from design, construction, permitting and licensing. The specifics of Flippo’s project required a lot of input and effort from you and the team.
Firstly it was very hard to find the right place. then one of the most complicated and important problems was to find the right team, contractors, employees, vendors, etc. But having a lot of friend’s business partners, we managed to solve it.
Tell us more about the business.
Our company owns and operates one of the largest indoor family entertainment centers in South Florida, named Flippo’s. We specialize in kid’s entertainment and well know for best Birthday Parties in the area. We are very proud to have an opportunity to serve our smallest and youngest part of the South Florida Population.
We think that we are different from other places by having the largest in industry indoor playground zones, large toddler areas, unique birthday packages, free classes and events, arcade zones with most advanced games and of course our tasty fresh cafe, with famous chicken wings. 😉
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
In my opinion, luck is always important, but I never could rely on it and instead of waiting for a good chance or opportunity to make something, I was always trying hard to achieve something, no matter what circumstances are there around you.
In general, I feel lucky that me and my family moved to the United States back in 2006 and without that step, we never could achieve whatever we have right now.
