Meet Kim Lassiter

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kim Lassiter. Them and their team share their story with us below:

Kim is the owner of Katura® Day Spa, has her skincare line named Kanéi® Skincare by Katura®, five years’ experience as an Esthetician, trained and experienced in a variety of advanced skin care modalities, Laser Technician and a Licensed Massage and Bodywork Therapist.

She is not new to the beauty industry, her passion for this industry goes back 20 years when she started as a hairstylist in the Maryland area. To broaden her skills and passion, she went back to school at Aveda Institute for Esthiology. Her dream was to own a Day Spa.

After retiring from the IT and marketing field, she decided to follow that dream by opening up Katura® Day Spa shortly after moving to the Charlotte, NC area in 2016.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
There’s absolutely nothing smooth about being a business owner. It definitely has been a roller coaster ride, especially during the pandemic and being a personal service-oriented business. I was newly separated in late 2019 just before the pandemic, registered to pursue my massage therapist license and months later we were ordered to shut down in early 2020. We just started maintaining and building a clientele base that was consistent. EVERYTHING came to a complete stop, including finances. I was not quitting, I kept pushing forward and we are still standing and have grown in the last two years tremendously.  Our clients has been very encouraging and supportive every step of the way!!

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m a licensed Esthetician, Laser Technician and Massage and Bodywork Therapist. I specialize in advanced facial services related to anti-aging, acne, skin discoloration and rejuvenation and Laser services. I also perform Swedish and Deep Tissue massage services. I am passionate about what I do and it shows in my results and that’s something I’m very proud of. I’ve been anointed with BLESSED hands as my clients say and that definitely sets me apart from others. Results are important, but how you make someone feel will be remembered forever!

Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
To succeed at anything in life, you have to take risk. I’ve had multiple careers in my life that led me here and this has been the hardest but the most rewarding thus far. I’ve been wanting to own a day spa for over 30 years, since being a hairstylist. You have to sacrifice time, money, relationships, etc. in order to make your dream a reality. It also has made me a better person in the process. And without taking risks, it wouldn’t be worth it.
