Hi Ricardo & Maria Jose, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Our story begins with Ricardo in his earlies 20’s learning directly from his father, Ángel González. He grew up on job sites, watching his dad build with his hands, solve problems, and push through long days with discipline and pride. Those experiences gave Ricardo his first foundation in construction — real skills learned the old-school way: by doing the work.
Ricardo continued his education and became an Aeronautical Engineer — something he accomplished while still helping and learning from his father. His engineering background sharpened the way he thinks, builds, analyzes, and approaches challenges. It gave him a unique combination of hands-on experience and technical discipline that would later become one of the strengths of our company.
Life then took him to Texas, where he entered the commercial construction field full-time. Ricardo worked his way up to supervisor and superintendent, managing teams, large-scale jobs, inspections, structures, and complex commercial projects. Those years gave him leadership experience, field management knowledge, and a deep understanding of how construction truly operates at a professional level.
When we met, everything shifted. Ricardo brought decades of trade experience, engineering knowledge, and field expertise. I (Maria Jose) brought my own path:
I earned my Bachelor’s degree with a double major in Logistics & Supply Chain Management and International Business, along with studies in Import & Export Management. Later, I obtained my Florida Real Estate License 15+ ago to deepen my understanding of property, development, and value. All of that education built my strength in operations, planning, client relations, and business structure — the behind-the-scenes engine of any successful company.
Together, we realized we were stronger as a team than working separately. So we made the decision to become independent — as husband and wife, as parents, and as partners in a dream bigger than ourselves.
That’s how Renslim LLC was born.
And even the name is a reflection of who we are.

Slowly, through honesty, quality, and word-of-mouth, our work grew. From small jobs to remodels, additions, structural work, commercial build-outs, and full project management — we grew because we never compromised our values.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Our journey with Renslim has been full of blessings, but it has also been full of real challenges — the kind that test your strength, your patience, and your faith.
One of the biggest obstacles we faced was starting from zero. We didn’t have investors, partners, or industry shortcuts. Everything we built came from hard work, discipline, multiples failures in the process of learning how this field industry works and the determination to push forward even when things felt overwhelming.
Another huge challenge — one that shaped our entire journey — was building a business while raising little children. Our kids were small when we started, and balancing their needs with the demands of construction was incredibly hard. There were nights we worked after they fell asleep, mornings we were exhausted, days where childcare, school, clients, inspections, and deadlines collided at the worst possible moments. We had to learn how to be parents and business owners at the same time, and that came with sacrifice, guilt, and stress — but also resilience and deep purpose.
Navigating the Miami permitting and inspection system was another major obstacle. Each city has its own rules, its own timing, its own requirements. We dealt with delays, rejections, unexpected corrections, and last-minute demands from building departments. Learning each process while staying strong for our clients required patience and persistence.
We also faced the challenge of proving ourselves. As a family-run, immigrant-owned business, we had to earn trust the hard way — through consistency, transparency, and quality work. There were moments of financial pressure, moments where projects slowed down, moments of unfair judgment, and moments when we felt stretched thin emotionally and physically.
But every challenge made us stronger.
Every obstacle taught us something.
Every difficult day shaped our character and pushed us to grow.

When people hear “risk,” they usually think of something dramatic — but for us, risk has always looked very different. Risk is choosing growth over comfort. It’s betting on yourself when no one else is doing it. It’s stepping into the unknown with faith, discipline, and the belief that your hard work will carry you through.
We have taken many risks, but our biggest one was starting Renslim LLC from zero while raising small children. We had no investors, no financial cushion, no “safety net.” We walked away from stable jobs to build something of our own — something that aligned with our values and our vision. That decision was terrifying, but it was necessary. We didn’t want to spend our lives building someone else’s dream while ignoring ours.
Another major risk was becoming fully independent in an industry that isn’t easy — especially in Miami, where competition is strong, regulations are strict, and the market is unpredictable. We had to learn the permitting system, build connections from scratch, earn trust client by client, and prove ourselves through every single project. There were moments where it felt like we were walking in the dark, but taking calculated risks — with preparation, honesty, and faith — allowed us to grow.
We also believe in taking personal risks, not just professional ones. Moving states, combining our strengths as husband and wife, blending our family into one united team, and building a legacy together were all risks — emotional, financial, and practical. But those risks are exactly what made us stronger.
Looking back, we are grateful for every risk we took. Without them, there would be no Renslim LLC. Risk is the bridge between where you are and where you want to be — and sometimes you just have to take the step, even if your legs are shaking.
