Today we’d like to introduce you to Alia Fernandez. They and their team shared their story with us below:
Alia, an awarded American artist of Cuban Lebanese descent, creates artwork that simply invokes a sense of happiness. Alia uses a beautiful blend of vivid colors, unique textures, and extravagant jewels that can enhance any room or setting. Inspired by her late father’s fine jewelry creations, Alia has blended visually captivating interpretations of nature through the lens of abstract art by using the finest acrylic paints, meticulous beadwork, pearls, and Swarovski crystals.
Alia’s artwork has been featured throughout the world in destinations such as Miami, New York, Minneapolis, Florence, Italy, and Monaco. Alia is a resident artist in Art Fusion Galleries located in downtown St. Petersburg Florida and Miami’s Wynwood Art District. Her artwork can be described as peaceful, joyful, serene, and captivating. It enchants the eyes and the soul. Much like Alia herself, her artwork brings light and life.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
As an artist, I’ve faced many challenges, but I consider myself lucky to have met William Braemer. He has been an incredible mentor and a very good friend to me. I truly appreciate his guidance and support in navigating the complex world of the arts.
Having a positive and supportive relationship with a mentor is so valuable when facing the obstacles that come with pursuing a career in the arts. I am grateful to have William in my life and for the encouragement, he has given me along the way. His advice and perspective have been invaluable to my success as an artist, and I look forward to continuing our friendship in the future.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
As an abstract artist specializing in mixed media, I constantly challenge myself to try new materials and techniques, and I never shy away from failure as an integral part of the creative process. I take pride in all my work and pour my heart and soul into each piece. My garage is filled with an assortment of tools, from a blow torch to a saw-saw and jigsaw, which I use to bring my artistic visions to life.
I have had the privilege of participating in Art Basel Miami through Art Fusion Galleries for four consecutive years. This annual event provided me with the opportunity to showcase my artwork, network with other artists, and connect with art enthusiasts from around the world. I also had the honor of showcasing my artwork at Basel on the Bay, an annual art event held in St. Petersburg, Florida.
One project that I am particularly proud of was a collaboration with William Braemer for Rogers Behaviors Health. The pieces I created were specifically designed to provide comfort and support for children suffering from mental health issues, a cause that I feel deeply connected to as a former Kindergarten teacher. Being able to use my art to help soothe these children and make a difference in their lives was an incredibly rewarding experience.
While I don’t consider myself better than any other artist, I do believe that my willingness to experiment and my dedication to each piece sets me apart. I don’t rush the creative process and some pieces take months to complete. Art has opened up new friendships for me, and some of those relationships have become like family, including my friendship with William.
What are your plans for the future?
I am thrilled to announce that I will be exhibiting my artwork this summer in Houston, Texas. Additionally, I am currently working on an upcoming exhibition in Florence, Italy, and I am scheduled to exhibit at the prestigious Metropolitan Museum in Tokyo, Japan in 2024. These exciting opportunities will allow me to explore new artistic styles and connect with fellow artists and art enthusiasts from around the world. I can’t wait to see where my art takes me next!
My goal is to continue sharing my art with others, as I believe that it has the power to make a positive impact on people’s lives. I want to bring happiness and comfort to those who experience my work and to create art that has a deeper purpose and meaning beyond just aesthetics.
I am dedicated to exploring new materials and techniques to push the boundaries of my artistic abilities and to challenge myself to take on new projects and collaborations that allow me to grow and learn as an artist. Ultimately, I hope to use my creativity to make a difference in the world and to continue spreading joy and inspiration through my art.
