Today we’d like to introduce you to Veronica Marin
Veronica, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I went to Kaiser University for a business degree and I also got an associates of arts degree in fashion design from the fashion Institute of design and merchandise in Los Angeles. When I moved back home, I was just doing office work, waitressing, bartending and I just started doing make up for fun on myself. My best friend got me to do her make up and I found the love of doing it on others. I got certified and started working. I would just take jobs here and there, but when I felt like I was good enough, I quit my job and , took a leap of faith and found the world of freelance Makeup Artist. That was over seven years ago and I could say it was the best decision of my life. I love what I do. I get to be with people’s most special day, Important events and make them feel fabulous. I have Met so many people in the industry that have helped me along the way and got me to where I am today. I thank all of those people because it’s made me a better artist.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Like starting any business, it always takes a bit to get your foot in the door, especially when it’s something new. Fortunately, I found some great mentors in the beginning of my career that helped me understand the business first it was hard to get clients and get to wear the mouth out, but I was able to join bridal makeup teams that helped me grow. I slowly started growing my own clientele that some of them have been with me for seven years already since the beginning they have seen me grow And evolve as an artist
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a freelance and Makeup Artist I specialize in bridal makeup and special occasions. I’m fortunate I’m able to do what I love as my job, making all my clients feel beautiful. Most proudest moment is when I give my client beer and they see themselves for the first time when they look good about my craft
Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
I have been so fortunate that I have meet some great Boss Women throughout my career. Take every opportunity, that’s what I did and it made me find my love of doing weddings, being with a women’s most special day is the best feeling, making them feel gorgeous. Meeting my mentor Elizabeth really helped me grown and improve as an artist.
