Ocean, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Hello, my name is Ocean.
I am a 23 year old NPC natural bodybuilder actively competing towards achieving my natural IFBB Professional Card! I started my fitness journey when I was only 13 years ago and really have been consistently training and dieting for over 10 years now! I originally started my bodybuilding career during my undergraduate years at Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, FL, when I was 19 years old. I started to compete when I was 20 years old and never looked back!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely has not been a smooth ride. Having immigrant parents from South Korea, they wanted me to concentrate more of my time towards pursuing a law degree but I frankly wanted to do my OWN thing! Just like any competitor, I struggled mentally during the preparation aka “prep” of my first couple of bodybuilding shows! No matter what, I never gave up on myself and the process. I was extremely disciplined, hard working, and always believed in myself at the end!
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Now in my professional career, I specialize as a licensed private health insurance advisor while juggling being an active competitive bodybuilder. I am known for being a great student and having grit and persistence through it all! I am most proud that I am very disciplined in maintaining my work, bodybuilding, love, and family relationships and career. Although it is not easy, it is very rewarding having a lot on my plate and always being busy!
Who else deserves credit in your story?
The main person I would love to give credit to that have played a huge success in is my lord and savior Jesus Christ. I know it is corny and common, but, truly without god and Jesus on my side, I didn’t think I would be where I am today. I am grateful with my relationship and faith in God and I wouldn’t be able to achieve as much as I have without him.
