Today we’d like to introduce you to Margery Lowe
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
As long as I can remember, I knew I wanted to be an actor. I’ve been doing it since I was a child, I went to college to study, and have been acting ever since, in both film, theatre, and television, throughout the U.S. and Canada. I can’t imagine doing anything else!! It’s been a particular joy to see how many great opportunities there are within the Miami area, as well!!
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It’s never a smooth road… that sure is part of the journey. I think the biggest struggle that is always a factor, despite one’s experience, history, or connections comes when finishing up a run of a great play or wrapping an amazing film, and finding yourself right back to the uncertain feeling of “what’s next”?! No matter how many contracts you complete, there always is that looming and nervous voice in your head, wondering what the next chance will be. Sure makes you appreciate every single experience, though!
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m an actor. I’ve been lucky enough in my career to work with absolutely amazing artists and creatives on stage, film, and in television. It’s hard to pick one particular project or role that you’re most proud of, because we commit ourselves so fully to every single one. Find yourself vulnerable every time you step in front of a camera or on a stage. But certainly filming the one-woman show, “The Belle of Amherst” during Covid was a highlight, both because of the immense challenge of the role, and the time of isolation we were all experiencing throughout the world. Having the chance to act at a time when the opportunities were so slim and we were all, collectively, unsure of what was coming next, was an experience I never took for granted, and one I treasured every moment of… still do! I’d like to think that what sets me apart is my work ethic. No matter what the role, project, or place, I can always promise to commit myself to it 1000%… to put in the work, before a project and every single moment, during. I simply don’t know any other way or couldn’t, if I tried.
Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
Risk is mandatory to the arts! It’s also terrifying, as human beings, by nature. But has the potential to be incredibly exciting and necessary to the story-telling. Every time we act – attempt to think like another human being and place yourself in their shoes – there is risk involved. Finding the delicate balance of staying honest, being collaborative with your fellow actors, keeping within the world of your director and the writer’s vision, and still finding places to fly without wings and take real chances can be a scary challenge, but can also the most satisfying one, and is essential to being alive!!
