Meet Jonathan Beskin of SinglesSwag in Boca Raton

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jonathan Beskin.

Jonathan, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
My background before I started SingesSwag was in finance. I attended business school while working full-time, and immediately became intrigued by the reoccurring business revenue model in the curriculum. This business model was at the forefront of my mind when I concluded one night that it would be nice for single people like myself to receive a self-rewarding gift. Once my idea came together, I did a lot of research that led me to the realization that no one offered a subscription box service geared toward singles in a serious way. From there, I started SinglesSwag on a small scale. I hosted multiple family and friend gatherings to package the boxes for delivery. In May of 2016, we sent our first shipment of fewer than 50 boxes to subscribers in the United States. Just three short years later, we currently ship over 40,000 boxes a month to more than 30 countries; cultivating highly engaged communities with over 900k followers on our social media.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
I think it’s safe to say that all business owners overcome many obstacles, but I feel that I’ve learned an incredible amount along the way. If I hadn’t faced those challenges, SinglesSwag wouldn’t be where it is today. One area where we’ve significantly improved the brand is in product selection for the box. We’ve really worked to increase our customer engagement, as well as improve the quality of products and retail value of what’s received each month.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about SinglesSwag – what should we know?
My company, SinglesSwag, is the first and largest monthly subscription box designed specifically for singles. The components of the box are designed to be rewarding and inspirational, which helps singles feel empowered. Our business went from inception to making well over $1 million in revenue per month in less than three years. We initially started with small advertisements on social media spending about $20 per day. We now spend $20,000+ per day in social media advertising, and much of my work consists of managing those social media accounts.

What are you most proud of as a brand, organization, service provider or creative?

One of the more rewarding aspects that we are really proud of at SinglesSwag is that we get to hear from singles who love our brand and its message each and every day. We have subscribers all over the world, and it’s exciting to know that we are empowering them with a message of happiness and self-acceptance, regardless of their relationship status. We’re most proud of the impact we’ve had on our subscriber’s lives, through a simple one-a-month gift. The growth of SinglesSwag has allowed us to get more involved with charities and community events, as well as provides dozens of jobs locally.

What sets you apart from others?

Single and unmarried people make up for more than 50% of the US and world population over the age of 18. I think the fact that we are catering to this audience sets us apart from our competitors. We’re highly selective when it comes to the product offerings we allow in our boxes, which is also a differentiating factor.

What are your plans for the future? What are you looking forward to or planning for – any big changes?
Ideally, like a business owner, I look forward to expanding our customer reach and impact around the globe.
