Art & Life with Elisee Junior St Preux

Today we’d like to introduce you to Elisee Junior St Preux.

Elisee Junior, please kick things off for us by telling us about yourself and your journey so far.
Film was not my first love. Being raised in a household where music dominates all creatives, I learned an extensive amount of musicality before picking up the camera. Consequently, gaining the knowledge of rhythm allowed me to exploit those same attributes through a different source; my body. Now as an intrigued dancer and musician, I longed to further my craft in the performing arts. However, I deferred this notion for years. I attended college, Florida Atlantic University, for a degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Information Technology. I loved it, but I always knew a certain aspect of my career was missing. With this in mind, I contemplated for weeks on the correct procedure for pursuing your craft, but in reality, the leap was mine. Reminiscing back to childhood, between music and dance, film was inevitable. I watched movies every day, creating original scenes and alluding those events back to reality. In the same fashion, I began to grasp the mastery of film and write my own movie reviews. Under those circumstances, I created a craft that combines music, dance, and all other associated arts under film. This allows my passion to ascend. I did not have to choose one. I could use them all. Immediately, I sought out the training, performed in local theatre productions, and self-taught multiple camera techniques. In effect, I found the perfect talent agency, obtained a few mentors, and launched my first ever blog channel. In the present day, I now write, direct, and star in my own productions.

Can you give our readers some background on your art?
In Fall 2018, I created the ultimate site on all things film, entitled “The Movie Butter Playbook.” A hybrid channel consisting of monologues, reviews, analyses, short films, challenges, and many more. As an Actor/Filmmaker, it is imperative to create your own content. I wanted to present my work through the lens of one’s imagination including bold coloring, strong characterization, storytelling, and composition. So let’s break it down. The Movies are the subject. The entire channel revolves around the film industry. The Butter is you. The people are the most important feature of the channel because it creates an intimate relationship between the viewer and the subject. After all, it is entertainment. By the same token, the Playbook analyzes the accuracy between correlation and perception within a film. It’s building blocks and the subliminal importance of reality. In other words, the glue that holds it all together. Think of it as your personal media handbook. All content can be found in that tab. I want my audience to gain a particular perspective on film and run with it. Once obtained, movies will never be the same.

Any advice for aspiring or new artists?
There is no such thing as bad art. A vision can transition into anything you make it. I have constantly been told that at least one person will enjoy with your work; and if it resonates with that person, then a job well done. There is a difference between opinions and critique. Make sure you differentiate, or you will be driven out your craft. You must practice your craft day and night, and training is non-negotiable. Get in those classes! I wish I trained as a child, but everyone has their time. Despite the unpredictability of film, there is not one day that goes by without a lesson learned.

What’s the best way for someone to check out your work and provide support?
I take full advantage of our rapid increase in media platforms and technological advancements. As a result, my work is on the headliner, Instagram as “godlovemusiq.” You can also view my short films on Youtube at “The Movie Butter Playbook.” In like manner, the full experience including reviews, films, and more can be found on the exuberant display of your desktop or handheld device at www.themoviebutterplaybook.com. Be the first to see new content when you subscribe to the site! Subscribe button is located on the bottom of page one. Enjoy.
