Today we’d like to introduce you to Derek Cash.
Being raised by a dedicated hairstylist/salon owner, Derek was introduced to this industry at a very early age. His passion for hair grew more and more growing up in the salon atmosphere and being surrounded by so much ambition. He attended the Paul Mitchell School right out of high school. Using what he learned over the years at his Mom’s salon, he wanted to continue growing outside of his “comfort zone.” He worked in places like Ulta and Warren-Tricomi Salon and rose from being an Assistant to styling and kept feeding his drive to succeed. In 2010, Derek started using Instagram to its fullest potential, continuously promoting himself and his newly owned salon “Genesis Hair Boutique.” With a growing reputation for creating phenomenal blondes, effortless hairstyles, and ten years of experience, Derek still thrives to grow in his craft and motivate his team daily.
Has it been a smooth road?
Balancing a life; friends asking Derek to do their hair for free; clients trying to get squeezed in. In the early days, experts in the profession were not supportive in sharing their knowledge while giving Derek the advice to “fake it until you make it.” Derek’s philosophy and work ethic is to inspire his team daily as well as continuing to educate up and coming young stylists.

Derek specializes in creating phenomenal blondes and life-changing hair extension techniques. Derek is most proud of his client services and creativity. Derek is a Master Stylist who is genuinely the most caring, compassionate person to everyone while still remaining grounded and humble.
What do you love about our city and what do you dislike?
Derek most likes the international vibe of our City. Derek least likes the traffic on I-95.
