Meet Trailblazer Danielle Thompson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Danielle Thompson.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Danielle. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I’m still learning as I go, but I’d say I first decided to take the plunge and start a beauty blog right after my daughter was born almost four years ago. I wasn’t feeling great about myself and I have always been interested in skincare and makeup, so I thought I would channel my passion into something that made me feel like myself again. What first started as a passion quickly turned into a career. I’m now the social media manager of a new medical spa located in Coral Springs, and I love what I’m doing!

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It took me a while to finally take the plunge and just go for it. I asked for the advice from a few bloggers that I had been following for years about how to start my journey, and they said that the biggest obstacle is just deciding to do it. I could second guess myself all day, and as inundated as the community is with “other bloggers” I would just have to find my niche and run with it.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Miami Beauty Vice – what should we know?
I’m a beauty blogger turned social media manager. I’m still growing as I go, so I hope to be able to manage other social media profiles of other companies in the future. As a beauty blogger, I love to focus on black-owned brands that are not as prominent in notoriety as the brands you’ll see in places like Sephora or Ulta. Inclusivity in the beauty community is also a very important topic of conversation on my blog.

Finding a mentor and building a network are often cited in studies as a major factor impacting one’s success. Do you have any advice or lessons to share regarding finding a mentor or networking in general?
I don’t know that I have a mentor, per se, but I’ve met a lot of people who are working moms and are on the same path as me. I think the fact that we are all growing and learning together and sharing opinions and sharing advice with each other is huge.
