I started Purse Empowerment as a way to empowering myself. I launched the company after being laid off from my banking career. I thought to myself how can I leverage all of the wisdom and experience I had gained as a Financial Specialist for one of the largest banks in the Nation. I also wanted to launch a company that would allow me to transfer my ability to pay off my first home before I was 40, rebuild my credit after a nasty short sale, and to gain control of my finances by becoming a better manager of my emotional health.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Nothing is every smooth except for my hair after a good flat iron. And, finally, I am okay with that. I know that when you are growing as a woman, a wife, a mother, and an entrepreneur all at once; it’s going to come with chaos. But, as I get better, I am learning that chaos birthed Creativity. No, test! No testimony. Right?
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Purse Empowerment – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
Working with me is an experience. It’s not just your regular, regular sit down and review all the horrible things you are doing with your money and how my product is going to solve your problems. You can get that almost anywhere.
When I connect with my clients, they gain a Financial Friend, that’s going to relate to their poor choices, hold them accountable for making better ones and help them identify with a plan and a process that’s going to assist them in purchasing their first property, stop bill collectors from disturbing their “me time”, help them achieve a credit score that they can leverage as opposed to it being used against them.

What has been the proudest moment of your career so far?
Being the resident Personal Finance Expert for CBS News is by far the thing that really has me all in my gratitude. I am a degreed Journalist. So, to be able to merge money and the media fills me with great joy!
