Today we’d like to introduce you to Suanny Garcia.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Up until now, my career has been in media and public relations, and I intend to keep it that way because I truly love it. I’ve worked in PR for nearly five years. I’m lucky to have a phenomenal boss who is a pleasure to work for each and every day. I’m also lucky to have the opportunity to take on freelance writing gigs because writing is my truest passion. Some of my recent work is published in POPSUGAR which is a wonderful accomplishment for me. In January 2019, I launched my YouTube channel (Suanny Garcia), and I am thrilled to share my perspective and voice in this platform, and as always, grateful for the opportunity to do so.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There are always struggles along the way. I think in media careers, in particular, the struggle is always the pressure and need to “keep up.” There’s always someone 100 steps ahead of you, whether you’re in PR or blogging, influencer marketing, digital marketing, etc. Sometimes it’s overwhelming, especially when you’re launching a new project, but if you take it day-by-day and set realistic goals, it becomes doable. My approach in life so far is to make big things seem so small that they become approachable and doable, eliminating the perceived obstacle.
We’d love to hear more about what you do.
Most of my personal work is centered on lifestyle topics, with a spiritual scent. I think because I am a spiritual person, that side of me always spills out into my work. What I’ve enjoyed most is examining and experimenting with culture by questioning notions of success, testing some methods myself and telling about it, and just sharing my opinion with the world. I am nowhere near where I want to be, but I’ve worked steadily to build platforms for my thoughts and opinions. It inspires and drives me to keep working on this phase, this foundation I am building, every day.
Regarding my work with Pinzur Communications, a boutique PR firm in South Florida, I have so much to be proud of in terms of my team. As mentioned, working with Rachel Pinzur is truly a joy and seeing the way she treats and respects her employees inspires me to work to my best capacities. As a team, we’ve garnered phenomenal coverage for our clients, and we continue to stay on top of trends, develop unique branding, marketing, social media, and PR campaigns and approaches, and offer the best of our services to every client.
Is there a specific memory from when you were younger that you really miss?
This is a good one! Tough to recall. I did not, by any means, grow up wealthy or with an abundance of money. Once my family was settled in Miami after emigrating Cuba, my step-dad grew an affinity for boats. If I knew anything about boats, I’d describe the make, model, and size but all I remember is it was a small boat that we’d take out most Sundays. My memories of spending days in the ocean are so precious to me. Any memory of being at the beach or being on vacation near a beach is my favorite. I can’t express how at-home I feel when I am near the water. I have a true island girl heart.
