Meet Damara Cohn of Mangrove Realty in Delray Beach

Today we’d like to introduce you to Damara Cohn.

Damara, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I am originally from Queens, New York and relocated with my family during my school years to Boca Raton, FL. I graduated of the University of Central Florida with a marketing and PR degree and sold my first house on my first day on the job as a Realtor. I was hooked!

Today, I’m the Broker/Owner of Mangrove Realty, a boutique residential and commercial real estate brokerage out of Delray Beach, FL.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It hasn’t always been a smooth road. During the real estate meltdown of 2006, and the several years after that, our business model had to change. We had to work a lot harder and smarter to put deals together when banks stopped lending money. I was one of the first brokers in the area to become a Certified Short Sale Agent and to handle the many foreclosures and short-sales in the area. I had to train my team, and the title companies we worked with on the new processes to deal with these types of properties.

We were also one of the first brokerages in Florida to go completely paperless. Real estate has many older practitioners who were afraid of technology. I saw that as an opportunity to streamline the business, make things easier for our customers, and reduce overhead. It has worked really well for us.

Our experienced Delray Beach REALTORS® at Mangrove Realty will help you find a home, vacant land, and/or a commercial building. We’re Realtors®; it’s our duty. (And we do it extremely well. Not to toot our own horn, but with our small experienced team we do hundreds of transactions and millions of dollars in property sales each year). Additionally, we are a long standing member of the Florida Association of Realtors, National Association of Realtors, Palm Beach Board of Realtors, and Beaches MLS.

We have won numerous sales and marketing awards, including the prestigious Realtor.com Technology Award, 2016 Certificate of Excellence Award from Broker Agent Advisors and Realty Alliance National Sales Award.

Mangrove was also the official brokerage to the City of Delray Beach and Delray Beach CRA for a number of years. I still actively help the city agencies along with the Delray Beach Land Trust and Delray Beach Housing Authority acquire and sell properties for their numerous programs.

I am most happy when working with my agents to help many families as their guide on the side closing deals.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
I personally define success by the development and successful relationships with my family. My husband and I have 3 wonderful children who are each so different. We not only sell Delray, but we are actively involved and enjoy spending time in our city, neighborhood and home.

I don’t have specific business markers I look for to define personal success. Each year we do better than the last and money is the tracking system used.
