Today we’d like to introduce you to Cristina Aparicio.
Cristina, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I’m 23 years old. I am a recent graduate from my nursing program. Nursing has always been my dream. Before nursing, I volunteered often at a hospital. I’ve always had a love of fashion & photography. Everywhere I go, I’d want to take a picture of something or with someone. And I have a serious love for fashion and shopping. I’m the type of person who always needs a new outfit for any occasion. I love to travel as well, even though during my nursing program, it was pretty difficult to travel often, I was still able to travel to places. I hope to travel more in the future because there is nothing better than visiting & experiencing new places and cultures. I’m excited to grow in my career, and I hope to continue on the path for my love of fashion and photography
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It definitely has not been smooth sailing. I’ve had my ups and downs, especially during school, where I wasn’t sure whether I should continue what I was doing and constantly questioning myself. What I always reminded myself of a quote I had found which read “there’s literally nothing in nature that blooms all year long, so don’t expect yourself to do so either.” And this quote has always grounded me. You might be going through a tough time now, but it may be a small bump along the road and once you push past it you can continue on your journey. Find the beauty in every single day. Always remind yourself that you are needed here and now. Be positive, compassionate, and always be gentle with yourself. In today’s world, it is so hard to love yourself because people are constantly comparing themselves to others on Instagram, etc. If you want to be successful during your journey, you must love all your flaws, all your ups and down on the road, because these are the things that shape you into the person you are meant to be.
Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
Currently, I am a new graduate nurse. I am excited to see where I go in my career and how I grow into a professional. I have always loved helping others and as a nurse, I will have the opportunity to heal the minds, souls, hearts, and body of people and I think that’s a beautiful thing.
Who do you look up to? How have they inspired you?
I have to say the woman that inspires me the most is my mom. She is such a hard worker & she inspires me every day to work hard as well. No matter how hard she works, she has always found time to be there for me during my times of need. I have always looked up to her and hope to be the compassionate and radiant person she is.
