Check out Blima Efraim’s Artwork

Today we’d like to introduce you to Blima Efraim.

Blima, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
I am originally from Sao Paulo, the busiest and most metropolitan city in Brazil. Even though I miss this crazy city, I am VERY happy to be living in South Florida for the past 26 years.

My passion for fine arts began at a very early age, largely as a result of my dad’s influence; himself, a great artist!
When I was still a little girl, my dad introduced me to a peculiar artist named Salvador Dali…….. no not in person, but through ART books, television features, and interviews. It was in one of those “aha” Dali moments that I dreamed of becoming a painter.

Today I am an a figurative and surrealist artist, a storyteller, and also an art collector and aficionado. Every single work of art that I create has its own inherent secrecy, and its own intricate story all behind my color palette. I also enjoy working with my subconscious mind, allowing it to guide me on a journey from its depth and onto the canvas.

We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
I began painting with oils and other various mediums before, but eventually frequent headaches caused me to change to acrylics.

I am not the kind of artist who follows the rules, and because of that, my creations depend upon on how I wake up on a given day. I have three styles. I paint “Puppets” living a real life. I also paint my recurrent and lucid dreams (Dream Reality Series). Lastly, I work on a series called “Subconscious Re-Creation” where I let my soul speak for itself.
Art for me is an expression of thoughts and views being carefully scripted on the papyrus of a canvas. My works, whether absolutely concrete or more surreal in nature, are telling a story, in addition to hopefully being very pleasing to the objective eye. Each face, structure, and image, whether being animated or not, is telling its own unique part of the overall artistic novel. They are symbols, which when put all altogether, become the chapter and verse for all to read. The brush has become my pen, the paint my ink and the canvas my paper. It is my hope that one day, people from today’s generation and those subsequent, who stop and observe my works, will smile as they come to understand who I am as an artist.

What do you think it takes to be successful as an artist?
Anyone can sell art at some point during their careers. That is not what I call success. Success is something far different. Success is much more abstract! It takes a lot of soul searching to achieve success.

I feel successful when I wake up in the morning knowing that on this day I might be creating something very special… something that will bring others enjoyment for a long time. I do not create my paintings solely thinking about the potential sales, but rather because it is what I love and was born to do.

When people can feel your emotion and connect to your work, you have truly attained success.

Do you have any events or exhibitions coming up? Where would one go to see more of your work? How can people support you and your artwork?
Recently I was at “Art Palm Beach”, but I’ve been in many, many exhibitions and even won a few awards. But that does not matter to me. What matters is that I exist as an artist and I am free do work 24/7 if I wish to.
I do not plan my participation in any shows in advance, I let it happen spontaneously. When the moment is right I will be there…

I guess Some people recognize me and love my work. That is how they support me – showing me their appreciation. Just google my name if you like! LOL

My studio is at home. If you’d like, come by and see me for a cup of tea and let’s talk some art ;). I will be delighted to receive you upon your request.
