Today we’d like to introduce you to Dyna Edyne.
Dyna, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
My story is an interesting one but I’m sure very relatable to others. I’m an only child raised up in a single parent household because my father’s life was taken by gun violence. Nonetheless, my childhood was filled with joy and exposure to all kinds of different music. I knew from my first music video I watched of the SpiceGirls that this is what I wanted to do. I never knew how to approach it but in 2014 I decided internally and externally to go full throttle into my music. I knew that I could make songs and I actually listened to them back and thoroughly enjoyed the melodies I created and the sound of my voice, I knew others were bound to like it.
So with consistency since then and basically networking through the city and performing at countless open mics, the traction has picked up and I got recognized by a few amazing artists that inspired me growing up so far and the support has been tremendous, making it to AfroPunk’s Battle of the Bands in Brooklyn, and landings sets in festivals this past year and Atlanta’s annual hip hop festival headlining Lil Wayne. I know that I want my music to be timeless and unforgettable so I don’t mind taking my time perfecting my craft and bringing my visions to life.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I never expected the road to be smooth coming into my music, I just always saw the ending goal in my mind; which is to tour nationwide and allow my music to touch masses of people throughout the world. I know that everyone’s journey is different, I personally choose to enjoy the journey because I know it’ll all be apart of the testimony so that I can pass it down to the next artist trying to make it out. Nothing you really want comes easy, so I would say the top struggles along the way would be just to stay grounded a spiritually aware the whole time so that you aren’t fueled by ego and/comparing yourself to other artists that are doing well. It’s all love and room for everyone to eat at the table so with that being said TreeWoman tries to master remaining grounded and faithful. Other than that its a matter of will and you will find all the resources you need when you know the goal, (studio time, performances, promotion, etc.) Get it off the muscle.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about TreeWoman – what should we know?
My business is still in its infancy phases, TreeWoman LLC., I’m still learning the game through trial and error and I mostly focus my time on making music, performing and connecting with other artists in south FL, I know by the time I need an accountant to handle my finances my business will be even more flourished, I think what sets me apart is my naturistic moniker and the ease I have in freestyling and expressing myself on the beat that comes from within. I know that I’m not trying to be like anyone else so naturally, you got a real taste of me when you hear my sound and projection.
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
The quality that I feel is most important to my success will be transparency and realness. I am not perfect and I don’t believe any human being is, But I know with the platforms I gain I will always use them to be my true self and also share my stories so that it may inspire others to go from within and trust in their own spirituality to make it through this wondrous crazy world. Everything else works its way out when you trust in your spirituality and have a sincere relationship with source.
