Meet Emmanuel Damian of The Tennis Foodie

Today we’d like to introduce you to Emmanuel Damian.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Emmanuel. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I’m a tennis player who loves to travel and to eat. I have been traveling since I was a teenager and I always find hidden gems and popular gastronomic spots wherever I go. We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It hasn’t been a smooth road for me especially in my second year. My ranking began to plummet and I lost some confidence along the way. Midway this year, I won the Food Blogs Award and I was able to turn the year around. I am currently on my career high ranking in Alexa and I’m getting a lot of exposure. One thing I learned this year is to be resilient. Despite the heavy challenges, learn to innovate and use those experiences to improve yourself. It was a roller coaster year but I began to enjoy more the journey of reaching my goals. Definitely, it’s history in the making for me.

The Tennis Foodie has won a large number of awards so far, some of which are the 5th place at the list of Top 15 Philippines Male Bloggers, the 35th place at the list of Top 100 Tennis Blogs, and the 20th place at the list of Top 50 Gastronomy Blogs. It’s also a good way to establish myself as one of the front-runners in Food Blogging.

Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
I’m the CEO and Founder of The Tennis Foodie. It actually started as a hobby. I’m a registered pharmacist and scientist. I work currently as a Drug Safety Manager while maintaining my platform. I believe in continuous education. Apart from Pharmacy, I also studied Molecular Medicine. Early next year, I’ll be studying Innovation and Business at AIM. I actually specialize in food blogging. It actually won several accolades during its first year. Now going on my second year, it’s really a humbling experience that I get to collaborate with big brands and promote local and regional food products. I think what sets me apart from other platforms is that I give my honest feedback/review. Also, I use my tennis approach in reviewing products – be it an ACE, HIT or MISS. It’s a refreshing way to look at the food on a sporty and fun way. I’m also an advocate of promoting “Support Local” slogan since I really want the local products to be globally competitive with imported goods in the market.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I think the lucky role for me is being the “Business Development Manager” of my own company since I usually source out local ingredients and products that would compete in the global scale. It also gives me the opportunity to meet other people and travel at the same time.

For me, there’s no bad luck role since for every mistake that has been committed, you get to learn two or more lessons to it. Sometimes, we have to learn it the hard way.
