Meet Aloysio Vasconcellos of Brazil International Foundation in Boca Raton

Today we’d like to introduce you to Aloysio Vasconcellos.

Aloysio, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Initially, to act as the holding of the Brazilian Business Group and the Brazilian Cultural Group (currently inactive), and as the leading group devoted to the organization, research and articulation of an international group to lead the expansion of the Brazilians abroad (Brazil International) through the study of efficient forms of cooperation, understanding and the integration between these two Brasis. Mission: to assist the Brazilian communities abroad, by organizing and elevating them to compete in at least equal footing in the marketplace, thereby better integrating them into their host societies, although always maintaining strong ties with their Brazilian roots and origins. Vision: Maintenance of solid Brazilian communities abroad, functioning as a platform for spreading political, social and economic aspects of the Brazilian culture and society, its customs and interests.

Has it been a smooth road?
Not smooth, but rewarding, considering the low level of Brazilian (from the cultural and sociological standpoint) sense of commitment towards public and community affairs. Our administration is led and comprised of volunteers, something unusual in the Brazilian public life. Today, a part-time administrative officer works professionally at our staff. Main competitors: religious-based institutions, offering short-term solutions to the challenges faced by the community.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the BRAZIL INTERNATIONAL FOUNDATION story. Tell us more about it.
We surely are proud of the great achievements and associations with major educational institutions in Brazil and the USA, as well as our programs, always aiming at the progress and cultural/professional evolution of our members and their families. Lack of funding, major problem.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
Major challenge: a) to motivate and teach the Continental Brazil of the immense opportunities that can be created and implemented by the two Brazilian groups, i.e., the Brazilians living in the national territory and the Brazilians living abroad; b) as the globalization accelerates, problems and opportunities will be challenges, and will have to be overcome.
