Meet Brandon Eli of Form Hair Studio in Flagler Village, Fort Lauderdale, Art District

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brandon Eli.

Native-born Floridian Owner and Creative Director, as well as passionate Hair Artist, Brandon Eli brings Form Hair Studio to the Flagler Village/Fat Village Art district right here in Fort Lauderdale Florida.

From a young age of creating art by means of drawing and painting to dancing professionally, Brandon now creates art through hair.

Graduated from high school with a scholarship in the arts and being one of the only students to win this incredible scholarship and opportunity Brandon decided then that he would pursue a career in the world of hair.

I like to consider myself a hair artist vs. a hairdresser, hairstylist or beautician… I’ll tell you why!

I rarely ever pull out just one tube of color and use that on my guest.

I will take two or three or even four colors and customize and make a unique formula that can’t be duplicated.

On top of that creating a layout that has a natural fall is something I strive for. This can be face framing with color or cut, pops of brightness in certain areas that create a feeling of depth. Always immersing myself in my client’s needs and wants but taking it that extra step further to give just a little bit more.

We, as hair artist, can get tired working long hours and always trying to meet high expectations, but what keeps me going after 12 years in the industry and seven of them as a lead stylist and educator is this. Thinking outside the box, pulling in knowledge and creating a toolbox of techniques that allows me the freedom to just create.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Is it ever really a smooth road?? Well, for me, I had many ups and downs. But I always pushed through and believed in myself. I have a super supportive family and a mom who really loves me no matter what. On top of that, I have a partner in life who has been by my side through most of it.

I have always been the type to want more, never settle.

This is a hunger inside that you can’t teach, but it helped take me to where I am now.

Still, I want to grow and learn and help others.

My advice is don’t limit yourself because then you stop your growth. It’s scary but once you do things that are uncomfortable you will grow by leaps and bounds.

Please tell us about your work.
We are a vegan hair salon. I strive to create a space that welcomes others and is apart of the community. My doors are open!

I wanted to create a salon that’s different in the fact that it’s not this ego-driven environment but rather a place to feel inspired and to be a part of something bigger than all of us.

Our brand is:
ReFORM – spiritual workshops hosted at Form Hair Studio
TransFORM
InFORM – an education series hosted at Form Hair Studio
TakeFORM
Awaken your true form.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
This is my path. I love it and feel satisfied with my accomplishments. I will always look forward and with that continue to push through any barriers that stand in my way.
