Today we’d like to introduce you to Eric Trelles.
Eric, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
To be honest, my mom would tell you that she was surprised I didn’t plan my own birth or baptism. I’ve been involved in event planning and decorating since middle school – helping with fundraisers, holiday decors, class parties, etc. In high school, I worked with a floral designer and that gave me a glimpse into the business aspect of event planning. While I was studying at FIU, I was elected Social Chair of my fraternity and eventually President. I think it was around this time that I realized I could make a legitimate career of this.
I found my niche as coordinator/planner. Clients needed someone quite frankly to “hold their hand” in planning an event – someone who expressed a genuine care in putting together a successful event as much as they did… And well, I knew that was something that was perfect for me! Being asked to coordinate an event, no matter how big or small, is always humbling – it is someone putting their full trust in me and my vision and believing that I can execute an event that they will be proud of. That is the biggest compliment someone can give me, and honestly, one of my favorite parts of my job.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Nothing worth having ever comes easy. Every “bump” in the road is an experience worth learning from. It’s important to take the good, the bad, and everything in between, and learn from it, grow from it and keep moving forward.
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned (and I am glad I did early on) is to stop worrying about what other people are doing or what they think about what I am doing. All that is a distraction from focusing on your craft and your success. People are going to judge no matter what – it’s up to you to keep on shining.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with ET Events Miami – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
ET Events was founded a little over ten years ago, and it was something that grew (and continues to do so) solely by word of mouth. Planning events take passion, vision, a tremendous sense of attention-to-detail, and patience. My team and I enjoy walking our clients through every step of the event planning process. It doesn’t matter if it’s a dinner party for a handful of guests or a wedding for 1000+ guests, we see it as an opportunity to help them tell their story. Every detail that goes into the event – the food, the flowers, the texture of the linens – they each hold their own importance in making sure the story gets told perfectly.
I think it is because of this mentality, and the fact that we see every client/event as a VIP, that has allowed us to continued growth and success. Our event management and platinum-standard services have captured the attention of over several hundred couples throughout the country, over several global corporations and even some celebrities. It is not uncommon that our clients (and our vendors, too) become long-term friends.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
I just hope to continue to do what I love and planning amazing events for my clients. That being said, there some fabulous projects in the works, but that’s all I can say for now. You will just have to wait and see… You may be reading (or possibly wearing) them in the near future.
