Today we’d like to introduce you to Linda Carta Arismendi.
Linda, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I’m co-owner of BOOM! Online, an influential media platform dedicated to the promotion of Latin music among young Hispanics in the U.S.
Our knowledge of the Hispanic market led the way for creating BOOM! Promotions, the marketing, advertising, and grassroots division, which specialized in content creation and the promotion of Sports & Music events, concerts, and album and movie releases for the U.S. Hispanic market. We handle everything from the street teams to graphic design & printing of materials.
I hold a bachelor’s degree in Mass Communications and Visual Arts from Florida International University. Additionally, I’ve specialized in social media and currently manage social media accounts for several clients.
My passion for crystals gave birth to a new project, Lakshmi – Jewelry for the Soul, a handmade, unique pieces jewelry collection. Lakshmi was launched in 2013 after years of designing jewelry for herself and close friends. Lakshmi has gained recognition as a local designer in South Florida. In 2017 I was featured as part of the showcase Latino designers for the #unstoppablelatina Leadership Summit in New York. Artists like Diana Fuentes, Perico & Jessi León, Juanes, Julieta Venegas, Beto Cuevas and more have all worn Lakshmi.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It’s never a smooth road, but perseverance brings its rewards. I’ve seen many people quit. It’s clear that entrepreneurship is not for everyone. I remember the first displays I used for my jewelry trunk shows I bought from a girl that was going out of business. You have to have passion for what you are doing.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Lakshmi – Jewelry for the Soul – what should we know?
In Lakshmi, every piece is made by hand using excellent quality materials. We specialize in custom pieces with global design at affordable prices. Inspiration comes from the ethnic colors of our world! Our jewelry is spiritually inspired using mantras and figures to turn our attention inward and look within. Every piece is created using healing stones and crystals with intention to provide the wearer peace, love, and prosperity.
Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
We couldn’t have gotten this far without the support of many people. My first clients were my kids! On our first trunk show at home, when everything was ready, they went to their rooms, got their wallets, and came down to buy Christmas gifts for their teachers. I think this loving act gave us good luck! We also have many loyal clients that were there from day one and still are supporting us. I would like to specially mention Lynn Ponder, a great influencer that created the Unstoppable Latinas movement and Webcitygirls and Claudia Santa Cruz, President of Santa Cruz Public Relations who recommended me for this interview. And of course my mother, Emma Arismendi who is also my partner in Lakshmi as well as my husband, Kike Posada who from day one has backed us up.
