Art & Life with Lindsay Lago

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lindsay Lago.

Lindsay, please kick things off for us by telling us about yourself and your journey so far.
Like many photographers, my first-born lead me into a life of photography. My daughter was born and instantly I felt the need to document her whole life. I wanted to capture every single second of her. But I didn’t just want pictures, I wanted moments. I wanted images that would take me back to that exact feeling to remember her by. I started to photograph her and others noticed and loved my images. I took the plunge to photograph another child and the rest was history. I started receiving requests to photograph families and I think I had a more unique style that clients loved. Once I really let go and didn’t try to fit into the typical “mold”, my business took off.

Can you give our readers some background on your art?
I create memories. Life can get busy. We get so wrapped up in everyday life that we forget to take a second and remember the now. I help families do that. Together, we create a piece of art that they will cherish. I hope when my clients are walking down the hall in their home and they see a picture on the wall, they are taken back to that moment in time and smile. For me, it’s so much more than a picture. It’s a piece of art. It’s taking a laughing child, a Mom kissing her baby, a Dad playing with his son and stopping that moment in time and making a memory. My work is a direct reflection of how I see the world. I want others to see it that way as well.

What would you recommend to an artist new to the city, or to art, in terms of meeting and connecting with other artists and creatives?
Social media is your best friend! I have connected with other photographers and built amazing relationships with some. There’s room for everyone. Most photographers feel this way. I have run into so many other photographers that are so helpful and full of knowledge. This community is so welcoming and kind. I am so proud to be amongst such strong and influential individuals that encourage and inspire.

What’s the best way for someone to check out your work and provide support?
You can follow my work on school media. Facebook and Instagram are where I feature most of my work.
