Meet Stephan Jean-Pierre of Street Snaps in West Palm Beach

Today we’d like to introduce you to Stephan Jean-Pierre.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Stephan. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
The relationship with photography was not planned for. Back when I was in high school, I finished a pre-requisite class early within the school year. To fill in the completed course my guidance counselor gave me two choices- to pursue in theater or photography. Since the theater teacher at the time drove a hearse (which by means definitely freaked me out), I was driven towards photography instead. In this course I was taught the fundamentals, most of our time was focused on manipulating images in Photoshop. Throughout my 6 years of creating photo content I have accomplished national and state awards for excellence in digital photography. Since the start, I have gravitated towards creative collaborations, much planning and brainstorming were involved. After shooting with friends I started reaching out to apparel companies that offer products to create a look book. I am fortunate enough to have a collective of great influencers in the art realm, these individuals motivate me to not fall into a content creating plateau.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
No, it has not been a smooth road. To think of what Florida offers in terms of location spots for photography has been one of my challenges. Florida is very consistent with only presenting flat land, palm trees, and beaches. Even though we may not have the mountainous regions of Portland Oregon or the infrastructure of New York City that alone challenged me to analyze the unique differences Florida has to offer. In my portrait or exterior/interior design images, I capture Florida’s unique angles and sceneries which inevitably leads my local audience to ask- “is this in Florida?”

We’d love to hear more about your business.
Street Snaps might seem like an informal or casual approach to photography, but its figurative meaning means every day/lifestyle photography. As a freelance photographer, I provide portrait photography, real estate photography, wedding photography, and specialize in commercial photography. Street Snaps does provide travel photography and willing to be flexible with the clients wants to execute the desired photoshoot outcome and budget. The thought of merging my creative thoughts into a photo project helps my clients understand that my specialty is a dedicated craft, I’d rather have them realize I am not a cookie cutter photographer when they compare me from other photographers. My dynamic implementation on movement and color selection for my images also sets me apart from others.

What were you like growing up?
I grew up as an extrovert and funny, it wasn’t hard for me to form friendly relationships with strangers. This enables me to ease my clients and connect with them. As the relationship grows the understanding of their wants/expectations as a client can be met. Growing up I have taken interest in all forms of science ranging from biology, physics, chemistry, kinesiology, and anatomy. I majored in Science, but I continue to passively educate myself in the arts through TED talks and Khan Academy.
