Today we’d like to introduce you to Lourdes Milian.
Lourdes, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
My journey began in 2005 when I was given the opportunity to buy a small retail business focusing on wedding favors, stationery, and specialty gifts, The Favor Boutique (later known as The Wedding Collection), was located inside the reputable bridal boutique Chic Parisien, and was the stepping stone that afforded me the industry knowledge and connections needed to take my business to the next level, hence how Lourdes Milian Productions was born.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The journey has been relatively smooth; however, as in any business, encountering obstacles and challenges are typically inevitable and part of growth. I have embraced bumps along the road, and made moves that have always been in the best interest of where I want our company to be. Six months into the start of my journey on the retail end, and after various inquiries from a number of clients and connections, I decided to expand and build Lourdes Milian Productions. When I transitioned into LMP, I simultaneously launched a rebrand turning The Favor Boutique into The Wedding Collection and expanded the capacity in which it operated. Years came and went, and while I was running two successful businesses, it became a challenge to keep a healthy work life balance. In 2014, I made the decision to sell The Wedding Collection, and redirected my focus to continue our growth at Lourdes Milian Productions.
Please tell us about Lourdes Milian Productions.
Lourdes Milian Productions, is known for transforming simple spaces into glamorous affairs and has had the opportunity to produce events at some of the finest wedding and social occasion venues in Florida. We have maintained an impeccable reputation in the industry for our dynamic creativity, exceptional service and expert development of the most memorable lifetime events.
I am most proud of the team I have and the extraordinary vendors that I am fortunate to work with every single day. It’s not common to hear anyone say they truly love to come to work. I do! We all do! We are driven by people and stories. I do what I do because I am proud to be a part of such an important chapter in someone’s life.
What sets us apart from others is how we started and how we have evolved. I understood the ins and outs of the wedding market far before I dove into it and began giving clients advice on it. We have evolved and created a working culture that is joyful and full of integrity, always understanding with this career path, there are no do-overs. We are given one opportunity to make things beautiful and perfect, and beautiful and perfect they shall be.
If you had to start over, what would you have done differently?
Don’t think I would have done much different. I think the obstacles and challenges I faced along the way built a better and stronger LMP. I am thrilled with where we are today and excited to see the direction we are heading.
