Today we’d like to introduce you to Lizzy Brown.
Lizzy, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
I am a born creator. Growing up, I was always singing, dancing, writing, drawing, and making jewelry. I became more serious about making jewelry about fifteen years ago when I could not find specific jewels I wanted to wear, and so I began to make them with my own hands for myself. This practice quickly blossomed into a full-time job creating jewels for my friends. I received much encouragement to start a shop on a new website for handmade art called Etsy. Since then I have built my website and moved my inventory from Etsy over to my own online shop at WWW.LIZKAT.COM.
We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
My jewelry-making style has changed over the years, going from beaded gemstone jewels, to learning the craft of the metalsmith. Working with metals has enhanced my product in immeasurable ways, and it has taken my creations to a new level. Some of my more unique items include my Crystal Garden Collection, my Stone Skull Rosary Collection, and my Essential Oil Vessel Collection. I also have my Bachelor’s degree in English Literature, which contributes nicely to the poetry of my work, as does the incorporation of my love for Alchemy, Nature, and the Cosmos.
I work with Silver, Gold, Copper, and Brass, and I love using any and every kind of gemstone specimen including but not limited to Quartz, Amethyst, Moonstone, Citrine, Emerald, Turquoise, Tourmaline, Lapis, Garnet, Carnelian, and Agate -just to name a few. I create special Talismans with specific intention, and I love creating custom pieces for my clients.
How can artists connect with other artists?
There is a local art scene in every city and town, full with artists just like you and I who are looking to support one another. The artist community in my city of West Palm Beach and the surrounding areas of Palm Beach County is thriving, and it’s all attributed to our collective love for art.
Do you have any events or exhibitions coming up? Where would one go to see more of your work? How can people support you and your artwork?
I have a full web-shop online at www.lizkat.com and I regularly post images of new creations on my Instagram page @_lizkat_
