Today we’d like to introduce you to Ariel Celestino Hernandez.
Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
I was born in Havana Cuba in 1974. I started painting at 6 years old. At 6 years old I could already paint a portrait of someone’s face. I never went to art school and no one in my family was an artist. I was blessed with this beautiful gift. I have dedicated my life to painting and drawing. I try to express through the world of colors a world of movement with my curvy strokes. Because of my unique and curvy style I am known as “El Pintor De Las Curvas”
Please tell us about your art.
My art is full of vibrant colors. I paint in acrylic and oil on canvas. My paintings are urban and have magical surrealism. I hope to be recognized by my curvy style. My greatest compliment is that even at a far without seeing the artist signature that you can say that’s a painting from El pintor de las curvas by recognizing my unique curvy style that is my personal seal.
Choosing a creative or artistic path comes with many financial challenges. Any advice for those struggling to focus on their artwork due to financial concerns?
I can definitely say I have had my fair share of financial struggles as an immigrant from Cuba. It was very difficult because I had no family in this country nor spoke the language however, I always had a passion for art and while yes it was very difficult because at the beginning I had to work really hard just to pay my bills I never gave up. Today I am completely dedicated to painting and earn a living 100% from my art.
