Gabriel has been synonymous with beauty and glamour for the past 16 years. Specializing in hair coloring, cutting, design and makeup application, Samra has developed a niche for creating scene-stealing, red carpet worthy looks for celebrities such as Paulina Rubio, Maite Perroni, and Ana Brenda Contreras, to getting some of the world’s most notable athletes ready as the lead stylist for both the 2018 Winter Olympic Games in Pyeongchang and the 2016 Summer Olympics Games in Rio de Janeiro. The likes of Shaun White, Gus Kentworthy, Michelle Kwan, Caroline Wozniacki and more have been groomed and styled by Gabriel. Aside from being a sought-after hair stylist/makeup artist, and thanks to his undeniable charisma and expert knowledge, national/local media and global brands call to him to provide his expert beauty tips.
A versatile professional, Gabriel is renowned for extraordinary transformations achieved through the perfect balance of cut and color that accentuate natural beauty. For Gabriel, the beauty industry is more than an occupation, it is a passion. This natural curiosity and motivation drives him to continually innovate on cut and color methods to bring his clients the best results. Through this constant innovation, Gabriel has become a renowned expert in balayage, a coloring technique that requires both great technical ability and artistic sensibility to obtain a gorgeous, natural look. In July 2018, Gabriel became a hair painting finalist in Behind the Chair’s #ONESHOT awards, where he was one of 25 finalists out of 6,000 entries!
As a master of his craft, major beauty brands have taken notice of Gabriel’s passion and work, and actively works with some of the world’s largest brands including Pantene, Wella Color Charm, Clairol Professionals and Dyson Supersonic, to name a few.
When he isn’t taking his talents all around the world, Gabriel can be found creating his hair magic at his namesake salon. Gabriel Samra Hair Salon, established in 2010, aims at providing a welcoming and hip, high-end salon experience that is truly one-of-a-kind to the diverse women of Miami, Florida.
Born and raised in Venezuela to Lebanese parents, Gabriel is fluent in four languages: Spanish, English, Portuguese and Arabic.
Has it been a smooth road?
It’s never a smooth road, it always takes determination, sacrifices, and lots of work. I worked the first two years of my business 7 days a week I didn’t even closed on holidays. Until I didn’t feel my business was running by itself I didn’t take any breaks. Fortunately my business is grown a lot and I have a great clientele that believe in my talent and in my team.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Gabriel Samra Hair Salon story. Tell us more about the business.
The Salon also allows everyone to escape the rush of the city life and feel refreshed, relaxed and rejuvenated in the sleek and modern, two-story salon, which houses some of the finest talent in Miami for hair, makeup, nail and other beauty services. We mostly specialize in Balayage we got the title of “Best Balayage in Miami” by Miami herald. Also, we offer all types of hair services, nail, Make Up, Bridal services, Eye brows services such Microblading by the best of Miami Atenea Beauty, lashes, Hair extensions.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
For the past year I’ve been developing two projects that I’m focusing on. 1. My own Hair care products developed in Brazil (Leave-In, Protein Hair Mask, Shampoos & Conditioners, Serum and Hair oils) as well as I teach my Balayage technique around the country and Latin America so knowing this in the next 5-10 years I see my industry going towards there having my own Beauty continuing education school and my hair line sold everywhere.
