Today we’d like to introduce you to Hanieh Sanaee.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Well I can start by telling you that I started in this business over 18 years ago… all this because I have a huge interest in everything artistic! I am a painter, jewelry designer, dancer, magazine model and makeup artist. I have worked in many salons in my life at my homeland of Iran that is where I got most of my experience working as a makeup artist. Where I aspired to become the best I can be by capturing the colors of each of subject aura. Eventually I began teaching makeup artistry to others.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Being positive! That is my secret to success. I never depended on anyone, but many people helped me along the way. Coming from a country like mine it is definitely harder for a woman to succeed in a male dominated society, but I never let that stand in my way. If you have important goals, you should be strong and at all times try to learn with new methods, and you should have love to your work… don’t be jealous and help others in succeeding.

I specialize in many different fields in the art world. I’m a highly recommended makeup artist. I have passion for photography and I’m a jewelry designer. My first passion is makeup, transforming people to make them feel and look the best that they can. I have been doing this for over 18 years. I am constantly educating myself on new technics.
Do you think there are structural or other barriers impeding the emergence of more female leaders?
Unfortunately we are still facing general issues concerning this matter. We are on the right path to make change but until then, there are still some barriers that need to be broken.
