Meet Hyacinth Henderson of The Henderson Financial Group in Miami Lakes

Today we’d like to introduce you to Hyacinth Henderson.

Hyacinth, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I started my career in financial services 16 years ago. Well, actually, it started about 28 years ago when I was running my father’s snow-cone business at the tender age of nine years old.

My dad, a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ needed cheap labor for his side gig so he “hired” me, my brother and my cousin to make ice, syrup and work 16 hour days at festivals such as Lollapalooza. He paid us in popcorn shrimp from Red Lobster and Honey BBQ wings from KFC. (Yes, honey BBQ wings were a thing at KFC.) But I gained so much more than fast food from the experience. At an early age, I learned the importance of work ethic, discipline, and having multiple streams of income.

Fast forward to 2002, and my dad needed cheap labor again. This time, the position would actually involve working at The Henderson Financial Group. The housing market was booming and they needed extra help around the office. I started off by helping in the mortgage division and doing administrative duties around the office. The starting pay was $250 per week but I realized very quickly that the opportunities were unlimited.

I went from $250 per week to obtaining my life insurance license, then my mortgage broker’s license and purchasing my first investment property before I turned 21. The rest is history.

I didn’t have a vision of what my future looked like at The Henderson Financial Group, it kinda just happened. It was more destiny than design. I was just floating, God was not.

Sixteen years later, and I am now an Investment Adviser and Managing Director at The Henderson Financial Group, a full-service Investment Advisory & Financial Planning Firm. I service a diverse range of clients, ranging from startup entrepreneurs, small business owners, to retirees. I also serve as an Abundance Guide to individuals seeking to accumulate wealth by developing and improving their relationship with money instead of attempting to follow a routine of “saving”.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
My journey hasn’t always been easy, but it’s definitely been worth it.

I’m naturally curious, but I can also be extremely laid back and go with the flow. It’s a beautiful paradox.

My first memory of this beautiful paradox was in high school. I vividly recall a parent-teacher conference where my one of my teachers explained to my parents that although I didn’t disrupt her class, I didn’t do any work either. I would routinely shuffle into her class, take my seat and then put my head down and take a nap until the bell rang. After she outed me to my parents, I started skipping certain classes by leaving school and returning for the classes I wanted to attend. I continued this pattern during ninth and tenth grades until my eleventh-grade year when a counselor pulled me aside to explain that I was grossly deficient in credits and in jeopardy of not graduating with my class. Guess who went to school from 7 am to 10:30 pm for most of her eleventh-grade year? Yup, me! I attended day, afternoon and night school to make up all the credits that I’d messed over during the prior two years. I made straight As, and 1 B during my senior year.

I gave birth to my daughter when I was 19 years old. Imagine the challenges that come along with being a young single mother. My daughter and I grew up together. She was raised on my hip. She attended college classes with me, she worked long hours with me and accompanied me to workshops and seminars. We studied, and still study together. A lot of my accomplishments are about proving to myself that I could achieve my goals regardless of the current circumstances. I also knew that I had to set a good example for her. I had to change the narrative, and I don’t know if I would be as successful as I am if I hadn’t had her. Looking back, I realize that in a lot of ways she served as a reminder that I’d better snap out of my laziness and step into my power or else I’d be in jeopardy of losing much more than graduating with my peers.

I’m a black female in America working in a male-dominated industry. I’ve been single, then married and unmarried. I don’t have a college degree or formal business training. I think all of these things come with their own unique set of challenges. But by far, the most challenging thing for me to overcome was believing in myself with unshakable faith.

That didn’t happen overnight. It took years, tears and overcoming my fears to get here but it’s the challenge that allows me to now live life from a place of ease.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with The Henderson Financial Group – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
We’re most proud of seeing our clients experience their light bulb moment. The moment when the emotions associated with planning their financial future move from uncomfortable to excitement- ahhh, that’s a beautiful moment to witness! We have a passion for explaining, educating and empowering our clients to make better financial decisions, not only for themselves but for future generations to come. We see economic empowerment as our responsibility, and our team is fully committed to breaking the chains of economic bondage.

In my role as an Abundance Guide, I guide folks in making a Shift to Abundance.

I work closely with individuals who are ready to change their Money Mindset and tap into their unlimited pot of abundance! We identify and dissolve deeply rooted fears and limiting belief systems, we uncover self-sabotaging behaviors and activities, and we completely redirect our Abundance Energy to sources that work for us. It’s good stuff!

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
Change the world!

People reeeeeeeeally have to get this money thing! No really. It’s deeper than money, our future depends on it.

The paradigm is shifting and more people are realizing that the old ways and ideals no longer serve us. There’s so much going on and if we want to effect any type of lasting change, we’ll need resources to do that. When I say resources, I’m talking about access to capital. So let’s build a solid foundation for understanding the role of money, how to use it properly, and then let’s build wealth so that we can do some real work together.

I have a lot in the pipeline. Seminars, books, courses, retreats and tons of content.

I’m an introvert. I naturally prefer quiet time, and I’m also extremely private, so I’ve been in the shadows for a long time.

It’s time now though. With God and unshakable faith, we can’t lose.

Stay close!
