Art & Life with Murderdoll Ivy

Today we’d like to introduce you to Murderdoll Ivy.

Murderdoll, please kick things off for us by telling us about yourself and your journey so far.
I was born and raised in Puerto Rico but I moved to the States, 6 years ago. After quitting my job as a teacher, I started working more on my art and attending conventions. I started to use cosplay as a way to sell my art but I enjoyed it so much, I ended up cosplaying full time. Now I create most of my cosplays from scratch and help other people achieve their cosplay goals through panels and sometimes videos.

Can you give our readers some background on your art?
My art, whether it is painting or cosplaying, is always inspired by my feelings or the way I relate to a character or a situation. I found out that by creating art I have an escape from all the negativity that surround us. When I’m cosplaying, I cosplay characters that I have a connection with, because I can totally let myself become that character. When I’m painting, I get my inspiration from how I feel at that moment. That’s why I prefer oil paints, even though I used other media also.

Any advice for aspiring or new artists?
Personally, I consider the biggest challenge artists are facing today is that as the art market and conventions are becoming more popular, it has also become more competitive and aggressive.

What’s the best way for someone to check out your work and provide support?
People can see my work at conventions in and out of Florida or on my social media by my name Murderdoll Ivy or Art by Murderdoll Ivy.
