Meet Alejandra Pimienta of Mochee in Little River

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alejandra Pimienta.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Mochee was created in 2010 and is the oldest social media marketing agency in Miami. I was an editor at Ocean Drive Magazine and when the 2008 crash happened, I found myself without a job, along with many other colleagues. I started freelance writing and doing some random fashion styling (the hustle!). I was also tinkering on Twitter when my best friend, Amy Stojanovic, (which I met at Ocean Drive and who was now the marketing director of Karisma Hotels) and I went on a road trip to Sarasota. Twitter was just getting cool, so I was on it all weekend. When we got back, she asked me if I could tweet for one of her hotels, and I said of course! I really had no idea what I was doing at first, but I followed the company’s marketing strategy to promote destination weddings and started tweeting at brides with information about the hotels, which were in Mexico. We started seeing positive results and even started closing business. Other contacts started noticing and began asking for help managing their profiles on social.

After about a year of managing Karisma’s Facebook and Twitter (that’s all that existed back then!), Amy decided to leave her position and join me, which is when we officially started Mochee. From there, we’ve been able to grow the company from just the two of us to now 10 employees and 40+ clients that range from hospitality, retail, arts and culture, real estate, non-profits and more!

Has it been a smooth road?
We’ve been very lucky to see our business grow year after year. There have definitely been many challenges that have mostly come from having to quickly adapt to the ever-changing social media landscape. I think one of the main challenges when we started the company was validating social media and convincing people on why they needed it. Today, that’s definitely no longer an issue.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Mochee story. Tell us more about the business.
Mochee is a social media agency with a lot of heart. We specialize in everything from dynamic strategies to community management, content creation, and social media advertising. With 8+ years of experience, we know what works and what doesn’t and our clients trust our expertise and our ability to stay nimble and act fast. Since social media changes on a daily basis, we’re the first ones to adapt to new updates and features and also recognize current trends and what followers are engaging with.

Our clients also appreciate our creativity, work ethic, how we can execute our strategies and put them into action very quickly. We pride ourselves on always being transparent and looking at social media with a critical eye.

As co-founder of Mochee what I’m most proud of is the wonderful relationships we’ve made throughout the years. We’ve been so lucky to work with amazing companies and organizations as well as community leaders and entrepreneurs that rely on us keep their social media on point.

I am also extremely proud of the team that Amy and I have built. Each person on our staff is extremely talented and thoughtful and their hard work does not go unnoticed by our clients. We’re so lucky to work with our Mochees every day! (Shoutout Rebecca, Alayna, Jenna, Sara, Denajia, and Alexandra)

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
Considering that social media changes daily, it’s safe to say the industry will be completely different in the next 5 to 10 years.

I see Instagram continuing to dominate and their advertising platform becoming even more targeted and precise for marketers to reach their niche audiences. By then, all types of businesses will have to have some sort of social media presence in order to be accessible to consumers.

Recently, content has been changing to more a curated style as a result of influencers, so we can definitely expect another major shift within the next five years- possibly integrating more virtual and augmented reality that is customized to each user.
