Today we’d like to introduce you to Nathalie Henriquez.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Nathalie. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I’ve always been a creative person so as long as I remember, I’ve been painting drawing and sketching. Growing up, I was always known as the “artsy” one, painting anywhere I could, and then one day, during college a friend of mine convinced me to open up a business where I could showcase all the pieces I had done in the past but also show those pieces I wanted to start creating for people to see.
So, I took the leap of faith and opened up Nat.Just.Ink. My business started with the idea of being able to show my passion for art. It began with greeting cards and canvas art and then quickly, I realized I had the ability to put my style, colors, and designs into any surface. I then started to focus on how I wanted my style to come across and what I wanted people to know the brand for. I spend time marketing myself, identifying opportunities to expose my talent, and most importantly creating more art. I constantly keep exploring different techniques and ideas and finding ways of growing my business.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely hasn’t been. Creating a business sounds very easy until you realize how much dedication, time, and patience it actually takes. I have never been a tech savvy person so learning things such as social media platforms and how they actually work for a business has been a struggle. I’ve had to learn how to properly take pictures, edit images, create websites, and even how to express myself properly with others. I never thought I would create a company where expressing yourself and communication would be so important.
There will always be challenges along the road, but I think the most important part is how much you learn from all those struggles and challenging experiences. There are many different routes to get to the end goal but the only end goal I’ve ever had when I started Nat.Just.Ink and now is to be successful. It has been an amazing and exciting long ride but most importantly a ride of hard work and I don’t plan on slowing down.
Nat.Just.Ink – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Nat.Just.Ink is a custom art company specialized in handmade products designed and created by me. Whether it’s made for a specific client or for my shop, every piece has different characteristics that make them unique. My pieces include wood mirrors, frames, fashion items, and graduation caps among others.
I am most proud of the experience I build for my clients. From the moment we start the process until the end, I believe my communication with them is unique and essential. The process allows them to be excited about the product that I am hand making just for them. For instance, the graduation caps. Each and every cap is different from the other and every design is handmade to my clients choice. Every color, wording, style, is unique to every client that gets their cap hand painted by me. I create a design that they get to wear on one of the most important days of their lives and I am glad my art can become part of such a special moment for them.
My work is characterized by its flowers, vibrant colors, and designs and having the ability to place those onto any surface sets Nat.Just.Ink apart from the others.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
I can’t think of an exact moment that holds more value than another. There have been many different moments in this journey that means the world to me and every time something “big” happens I get equally as excited and hopeful of the future than with the first moment. But if I had to choose the proudest moment, or moments it would have to be when my clients share their love and appreciation for the art I created for them. Every moment feels different but the excitement and happiness remain the same throughout them.
