Meet Bianca Coletti of Bianca Coletti Swim in Miami Beach/Aletier – Hialeah

Today we’d like to introduce you to Bianca Coletti.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I was born and raised on the island of PR and came to Miami for fashion school. Essentially, getting started right out of college, as we would make all our own clothes – photographers and magazines started pulling and stores started ordering. It’s been around 20 years, I have been designing and manufacturing locally in Miami.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Most of the struggles are certainly financial for an artist and designer. You have to upfront months worth of collections, trade shows, and advertising. The other aspect is upfronting production (buying fabric, cutting, sewing and packing. We get paid when we ship to smaller boutiques, department stores are on Net 30-60 terms.

Another struggle which I completely support is a local production. I want to honor the heritage of sewing, support my local community and have no carbon footprint- with that comes higher pricing/piece.

Please tell us about Bianca Coletti Swim.
My company is known for swimsuits! I have done it all from women’s contemporary to kids.

What sets us apart is creating everything in-house: from our custom prints, patterns, samples, cut + sew.
I’m very proud of the loyal team we have after so many years. We are very lucky to be recognized by the community in our efforts.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
I think that part of the journey is the lessons. I have been very fortunate to have amazing and trustworthy people by my side.
