Conversations with the Inspiring Julia Abreu

Today we’d like to introduce you to Julia Abreu.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Julia. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
It was destiny playing in my favor. I started cutting hair at a small barbershop when I was 16 years old, in a small town in Florida. My stepmom took me there for her aunt who owned the barbershop, to pierce my belly butting. It was the summer of my senior year in high school and I was working at the supermarket. She handed me a pair of shears, and a pair of clippers. I practically self-taught myself to cut men’s hair. After 6 months there, I figured it out, and I had a very stable clientele. Especially for me being 16. After I went to cosmetology school and studied, and applied for my license. Ever since I have been wanting to learn more and more, and have had an opportunity to work and incredible salons.

Has it been a smooth road?
It’s never a smooth road. Especially when you start at zero. My advice is never to give up. Believe in yourself. you have your whole life in front of you, and as long as you believe in yourself the universe will align everything in your favor.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into Julia Abreu Hair story. Tell us more about the business.
I am a hairdresser. I love to cut and color. I am known for being a very easy going hairdresser, and always making my clients feel comfortable when they sit in my chair. That is the most important thing. I am proud of the relationship I have with my clients, and that’s what sets me apart from others. It is not just a business. The moment you sit on my chair we are friends. We are in a relationship!

For good reason, society often focuses more on the problems rather than the opportunities that exist, because the problems need to be solved. However, we’d probably also benefit from looking for and recognizing the opportunities that women are better positioned to capitalize on. Have you discovered such opportunities?
We can either look at the glass half empty or half full. I think there is plenty of opportunities not just for woman, but for everyone who is looking for them. Woman (and anyone) has to have a clear vision of what you are looking to achieve, and the opportunities will come.
