Has it been a smooth road?
With most businesses, I don’t think “smooth” is a word they would use. We have our peaks and valleys and we learn from each stage. The short term rental market constantly changes and we have to change with it. Hotels have dropped their rates so competition is fierce. As in all markets, there is a lot of competition so we are constantly trying to improve all aspects of our business.
If our guests’ requirements change, we have to make sure we meet their expectations.
There are many individuals trying to rent out their homes illegally as a way of bringing in extra income – this has caused some struggles for us. Many of these homes are not fit for rentals and are not up to code. More often than not guests staying in these rentals do not have pleasant experiences. This has not given legitimate short term rental companies a good name as we are all grouped together.
