Today we’d like to introduce you to DJ ReRe.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I got started in to DJing on a radio station as a personality, but I started to have really good House parties with really good music that nobody had and people were asking me for my music. I didn’t give it to him and I started selling CDs and became very successful. Following the parties and CDs, my sorority started throwing parties which requires a ride variety of music and they knew that I had that and they kind of pushed me to do live DJ set. After months of practice, I did my first college fraternity party in 2007 and I never looked back since.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I really wish it was a smooth road. It has definitely been a struggle ever since I started considering nobody believes in your talent and nobody really wants you to succeed. For a black female in the DJ game it is really tough because people only see you from your outside physical self and not your talents or your ability to grow into your talents. It’s been a struggle to sell yourself and to promote yourself, to get people behind you. Still to this day I still get denied entry into some clubs, events because of my color and I still get overlooked. No matter how long I’ve been in this particular industry there are still people out there who know you and who say you’re really good but they don’t give you an opportunity so I must go out there and create my own opportunities.
So, as you know, we’re impressed – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
I am an international award-winning female DJ located in Miami Florida but I’m extremely mobile meaning that I’d go anywhere and I have almost been everywhere. I specialize in DJ Services, djing clubs, hosting events, weddings, special events casinos, birthday parties, City events, silent disco parties, cruise ships, radio DJ, model, brand ambassador and a plethora of other things.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
My plans for the future are to definitely become a celebrity DJ which means traveling all over the world, doing shows just as your favorite artist would do just on a DJ level want to grow and turn my name into a business that extends Beyond South Florida and goes everywhere in the world. And eventually I do want to partner with a DJ School for Girls, I think that would be an amazing project to work on as well.
