Today we’d like to introduce you to Blair Leavell.
Blair, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Zhanna was a math professor in Russia. They were married 7 years ago and Zhanna took a job as a gourmet food rep for Florida. They began attending fancy food shows and wine events, and decided that Boca needed a true gourmet store. What they have built in the last 3 years is a little slice of Europe, with rare wines, cheese, charcuterie, caviar and fine chocolates – the best of the best from all over the world. Wine lovers and foodies should check out their elegant, richly appointed store.
Has it been a smooth road?
The build out was very challenging. It took over a year to complete the designs, construction and to get all the proper approvals from various government agencies. Storm damage also created problems. The location also did not have good foot traffic, but superb wine tastings and word of mouth has built a loyal following. Gourmetphile has become a destination for connoisseurs and oenophiles
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Gourmetphile – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Gourmetphile is a rare wine store, a true specialty gourmet store, and European style cafe all in one. We have the best collection of rare and hard to find wines in Boca, cheese and charcuterie from around the world, caviar, truffles and superlative imported food products. We also offer personalized services such as private wine tastings, custom gift baskets, and digging for wines you are unable to find. Our biggest asset is family and our friendly and helpful staff.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
Boca has many well-travelled people with an appreciation for fine wine and delectable from around the world. We have a new 5 star hotel coming up next door and several gorgeous new residences.
Parking is not adequate, and the city is not very friendly or responsive when it come to the permit process.
All in all, however, Boca is a great town. The future looks bright and we expect our third season will be a breakout season for us.
