Meet Rekha Ramani of R&H Salon and Spa in Kendall

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rekha Ramani.

Rekha, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I came to the united states in June 2011 as a cosmetology student, and got a job at a threading salon right after finishing the course and soon found an opportunity with a friend and then business partner and opened my own little threading and spa in coral gables, learned a lot about customer care and created a safe space for me and my employees to explore and grow through our art over the span of five years and it has been an effort to inspire and empower women. Five years after running my threading and spa, my brother offered me to partner up for one more venture and we undertook a hair salon, R & H salon and spa along with threading services. It has its own challenges, we’re still learning and developing everyday, but the journey is the reward and worth it.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
When we acquired the hair salon, it was a completely different environment than what I was used to running a threading spa. Hair stylists are very passionate about their art and they’re all very unique. Gaining their trust and building integrity in the salon was a tough job, it took some time but we’re united with its ups and downs like a family now.

We are all about enhancing the process for a customer to a more comfortable and affordable luxury level. We provide everything from hair care to painless eyebrow threading and reiki with facials.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
We plan on expanding the threading section of our salon and hopefully intern future cosmetology students at our salon.
