Meet Elba Dipp of Dipp Photography

Today we’d like to introduce you to Elba Dipp.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I don’t remember exactly how I started haha! It’s just always been within me, I have always loved photography. I yearn to freeze memories and later reminisce by laughing or crying. Since I can remember I’ve taken photos of anything and everything! Coming from a parent that is an entrepreneur I always felt out of place working in a 9-5 job, so after 5 years of being an administrative assistant I took the leap and became a full time photographer. I’m very much driven by the hunger to be better in life and leave a legacy, I’m always a student. With the support of family, friends and my wonderful clients I now have an office and consistently book at least 30 weddings a year, and some lifestyle sessions here and there.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No way! In the beginning of my photography journey it was very up and down. I didn’t have direction when it came to managing clients, everything was word of mouth. My biggest struggle, which is nonetheless, a huge blessing is my son. Being a single mom and balancing your own business molded me into a stronger woman.

Please tell us about Dipp Photography.
I am a wedding photographer based in the beautiful South Florida, but I love traveling everywhere to capture love… I am proud of how much I’ve gown all these years, and how refined my photos have become. DIPP Photography was born out of a simple dream that so many women share: the dream to be independent. It started as a way to prove to myself and to everyone else that I could chase something huge and catch it. And I did! What sets me apart from others is The Dipp Experience. It’s all about emotion. From start to finish, I’m invested. When I first meet my brides and grooms. I learn what they are all about. I ask about their engagement story and then look at Pinterest with them to help pick out bridesmaids dresses and groomsmen outfits. I will give them a list of vendors who I think they’ll like based on who they are as a couple.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
My favorite memory from my childhood is the kind of freedom I had growing up in Cuba. I could go to my friend’s house without asking, and I would always be okay. We didn’t have much, but we were so happy with anything we had. As kids, we had fun pretending we were riding a horse with a broom stick.
